"That's your fifth slice." Ashton says looking up from his phone.

"Shut up, will you!" I jokingly snap at him. "I'm trying to eat this tasty pizza in peace." It's been hard using my left hand. They always say, 'Tame your left hand before the right one breaks'.

"I've seen girls eat alot but I've never seen them eat this much babe." He continues picking the last slice in the box, snorting in the process.

"Why are you calling me that? I thought you hated me." I say out without a second thought.

"Cause you're special.
And I don't hate you. We just never started off quite well."

"Mmmm," I murmured in agreement, .

I watch him closely as he wipes his hands with the yellow tissue before he got up.

"Are you leaving?" I ask, studying his every move. I really enjoyed his company, it's sad he has to go. I mean, I can't keep him here, plus he's still the same Ashton that made me wash his dog and never got to thank me for it.

I know I've thought about thinking things through and considering him a friend but not so soon. He needs to thank me. If he's not smart enough to realise it, then that's on him.

"Uhm- Yes. My aunt is expecting me." I break out of my thoughts as he stares at me before grasping his luggage, weird. "But- if you want me to stay, I'll gladly stay." He shrugs, waiting for what I'm going to say next.

"Like you said, your aunt is expecting you. You should be going. It's getting late." I smile trying not to offend him. He only nods and muttered an 'ok' before stepping out.

The sun is slowly setting. I tidy up the living room. I take my PC and start to fix my schedule for tomorrow. Since i can't write, i type everything in my laptop. The first thing that I am going to do is, go to the cafe next to Realers to ask if they can offer me a part time job. That is the only place I can  imagine myself working. The second thing, I'm gonna claim the money my father had left me before he died and the last thing I'm gonna do is go to the only car dealer in town to get the car my father had left me.

I am doing this because you cannot leave off someone's finances forever.
Even with Jake. I know, my father's money isn't as clean but I have no choice.

Danny and I are distant. We haven't spoken in days. I need to find a place just in case she comes for her brother's apartment or Frank might kick me out, since this is his building.
I put my laptop away.

The thoughts of Jake are currently flooding into my mind. There was a baby in the dream I had. Why was Danny holding her? I turn the TV on just to distract myself.

The next day I followed my schedule. I got the job as a coffee maker, working night shift from Monday to Thursday, from 7pm to 10pm. The good part of it is that, I have a car now.

It's finally Monday. I am starting work tonight. I grab my phone and called Megan.

Megan: You should give him a chance, you know. Yeah, yeah, you'll only ever love Jake. But Shallo he's no more.

I sigh remembering Danny telling me the same thing.

Me: Do you think that is the reason Danny is upset with me?

Megan: No. I don't think so. Danny is upset with everyone. She's only trying to drag you in her misery. For now, focus on your job. I'll talk to you later. Take care of your hand.

Megan. Megan is straight forward. She speaks her mind because she believes truth sets one free. If you ask for her advice, the truth you shall get. No sugarcoating.

I've not heard from Ashton since the day he left my place. I low-key want to speak to him. My phone beeps and my heart skips a beat. It's just a text from Megan.

Megan :
Danny's missing. I'll tell you everything when I get there.

I start to get ready for work. It's now 5:30. I walked into the bathroom, did the necessary. My hand has gotten better but I still wrapped a clean bandage on it. I pull on my light blue jeans and a grey cossack shirt that I got as my uniform. I slip on my white and black puma shoes.
I tie my hair in a neat low bun and made my way downstairs. I grab a sack of chips and head out.

It took me approximately 10 minutes to get to the cafe. I find Mr. Sass, the owner of the cafe, probably in his early fifties, serving dark coffee to a few of the customers.

"Shane, it's nice to see you on your first night at work." He says politely, serving another customer.

"Sir, it's Shallo, sir. " I correct him and he smiles broadly.

"Noted. Run along now. The customers are waiting. And Shane-" Oh my word. I guess I'm Shane from now on. Mr. Sass stops me before I could leave. "Remind me of your payment before your shift has ended. Yara will have to enter your details in the computer." I nod making my way to the booth, grabbing an apron along the way.

The night goes by real quick. Its drizzling outside.
I've managed to impress Mr.Sass with my coffee. Later in the night, I reminded him of my payment like he said and he'll be paying me N$700 per week.

I remove my apron, tossed it in the laundry basket and walked out. A cold flash of chill arises from my toes to my head. At first I thought it was the cold weather due to the rain but it isn't even cold. It feels like I'm being watched.

I turn around and there stood a figure dressed in black from head to toes. I quickly start to walk to my car. I hear footsteps- I could've sworn I heard footsteps. Or I'm just imagining things.

I got into my car hoping to drive away but I'm pathetically wrong. It wouldn't start. Great! Just great. I called the only person that came to my mind.
