THALIA FELT her face get cold from the tears streaming down her face. Every time she wiped her tears away ten more would fall down. Her whole body broke out in goosebumps because of the cold, October wind.
Each time she took a step her skirt whished to the side, creating even more of a draft onto her legs. No matter how much she tried Thalia could not get herself warm. Maybe for good reason though. Maybe she didn't deserve to be warm. She just exploded on Remus Lupin for wanted to have fun with her, for wanting to comfort her.
She told him that she hated him.
Thalia sighed and felt another fleet of tears fall down her cheeks, dripping off of her chin and onto the stone floor. She knew she was a burden, she knew she didn't deserve kindness. She knew she didn't deserve love. Thalia didn't even love herself for that matter, so how could she expect others to love her?
A sob came out of her mouth, echoing around the hallways as she walked faster. She couldn't let anyone hear her, even if she was out of earshot the paintings still heard everything.
"Thalia?"
Her voice echoed across the hall, even though she whispered her name. Evie was talking to the girl, her flower basket gone as she had fallen asleep prior to her arrival.
"Ah, evening Evie," Thalia whispered back, continuing to walk down the hallway, not wanting to break down in tears again.
"No, stop. Turn around and come here," she instructed, holding out her finger to point it to the spot in front of her.
Thalia sighed and felt a few more tears fall down her face, landing on the floor as she walked silently over to Evie. Once the portrait saw Thalia's face she gasped, bending down a little so they were face to face.
"Gods, Thalia what happened?" Evie asked, wanting nothing more than to reach out and comfort the girl.
"I don't- I don't know. I just-" She sniffled. "-why can't I just be nice? Why do I have to be so defensive?"
Evie merely sat there and listened as Thalia poured her heart out. Eventually Thalia sat and leaned onto the wall as she talked to the portrait; her throat raw and her eyes burning. Negative thoughts flashed through Thalia's mind every time she opened her mouth to speak, wanting nothing more than to keep it all in and scurry back to the common room. But she still sat there, talking and crying as Evie comforted her.
Thalia felt more comfortable with Evie than with anyone else because she knew Evie wouldn't gossip about it. Evie wouldn't tell the other Ravenclaw's, she wouldn't tease her like the Gryffindor's, and she wouldn't look down at her like the Slytherins ( Thalia didn't know any Hufflepuff's so she didn't know what they thought. )
"Why don't you try and opening up more? You hold yourself back so much because of your family but you don't see them anymore," Evie suggested, sitting cross legged herself. She was picking at flowers in her painting, watching as they grew back almost instantaneously. She gave up eventually and just laid back onto the grass, watching as clouds moved above her.
"Trauma," Thalia simply said, staring blankly at the stone wall in front of her. She didn't really care about her poetic answers anymore, she just said it flat out. Thalia was over it, especially with Evie. All she wanted to do was have a friend, maybe a boyfriend, a love interest, someone she could hold.
But she was Thalia Frilio. Too bitchy for her own good.
Evie hummed in response and sighed, sitting up and staring at the wall in front of her too. She didn't know what to say to Thalia because she didn't have trauma for herself. Sure she lived in a painting, but she was devoid of lots of things. At least the other paintings liked her, too.
"Okay, well I'm not gonna burden you anymore. Thanks for listening, Evie," Thalia said, standing up and facing her.
Evie gave Thalia a soft smile and nodded her head. "Anything you need, I'm always here for you," she told her.
Thalia smiled again and made her way down the cold corridors. Now that she was thinking about it her butt was cold and her legs and arms had goose bumps all over them. She rubbed her arms up and down as she made her way towards the Ravenclaw Tower, watching as the paintings slept. The occasional snores were heard, of course, but she didn't mind it.
As she got to the common room, it was deserted. Everyone was either still at the party or passed out in their dorms. Thalia made her way towards her own dorm, opening the wooden door and stepping inside. No one was inside. Thalia figured they were still at the party as she flopped down onto her bed face first.
She sighed into the bed, turning her head so she didn't get a mouth full of comforter. Her drapes were pulled back so she could see the room. It was dark, so dark you could barely see anything. Yet her eyes moves across the room, taking in the dorm. The ceiling had the same star map on it as the common room, twinkling with the real stars outside. She always loved that about the Ravenclaw House. It always resembled the night sky, reminding her of the comforts that she still loved and adored.
With a grunt, Thalia lifted herself off of her bed and walked towards her dresser, pulling out a pair of pajama's as she silently undressed. The only sound that she made was when her feet patted on the ground, her clothes falling as she stepped into another pair. It was refreshing when she took of the tight corset, letting herself finally breathe as she climbed into her navy blue sheets.
Thalia nuzzled into the pillow, reaching her arms underneath it as she got comfortable. The last sound she heard was the door creaking open and shut with little footsteps. She figured it was just the girls getting in late, trying not to wake her up as they got in. Thalia didn't bother opening her eyes, even when she heard the light thump on her nightstand before the door opened again.
