REMUS DIDN'T know how long he stayed in the hallway. Time seemed to mesh together as the party raged on long into the night. All he knew was that he was freezing. His suit was too thin to withstand the temperatures of October nights, especially in Scotland.
He sighed and leaned his head against the stone wall, closing his eyes and letting his mind drift. She had said that she hated him. Tears coming out of her eyes and body shaking, she said she hated him.
Remus supposed she had every right to. He and his friends weren't exactly innocent boys. No matter how much they wished they were more gentlemanly, he knew they never would be. Remus enjoyed it, of course, the rush of pranking people and running from Filch. Yet they still had times like these where jokes would backfire and they would be hated.
It had never really happened to this extent before, normally one of them could clear it up with the person before they were back to being on friendly terms, but Thalia Frilio was having none of it. She had scolded them, glared at them, pranked them back.
A tremor shivered down his body, making Remus suck in a breath as the cold got the better of him. He planted his hands down on the ground and pushed himself up, quickly retreating back into the comfort of the common room. Well, the warmth of it, he supposed - there was nothing really comforting about horny partygoers.
"Moony! Where've you been?" Sirius slurred, smiling at the boy.
Remus looked at him before smiling a bit. "Just went outside for a bit, it's too stuffy in here," he lied. It was getting easier to do that, lying to his friends.
He mentally scolded himself for saying that but he didn't want any questions from Sirius, especially with how much he hates both Maeve and Thalia ( one more than the other. )
"Ah, always the opportunist," Sirius said, waving at some girl behind Remus.
"Uh-huh, well, I'm gonna go. Don't drink anymore, Padfoot," Remus said, patting him on the shoulder. He was sobered up at this point, the beginning of a headache blossoming at this temples.
"You don't drink enough, my friend!" Sirius said, turning around and making his way back towards the party. Remus noticed he stopped for a second, looking at someone in particular. It was Maeve making out with some guy dressed as Fred Flintstone.
Remus sighed and make his way up the dorm room stairs, disappearing into the comfort of the room. He shut the door behind him and locked it, making sure no one could walk in while he was undressing. Once he made sure the door wouldn't open, Remus immediately began taking off the tight suit, discarding it onto the floor.
He walked about the room shirtless for a moment, rummaging through the dresser drawers before he pulled out some joggers and a sweater. While he pulled out the sweater his thoughts immediately went to Thalia and her exposed skin. She had been wearing a corset with a short skirt and no jacket. He had felt how cold she was as they had hugged in the hallway, how her fingers were red from the cold air.
With one last look he had grabbed another sweater, before he walked out of the dorm without changing his pants. Remus quickly made his way out of the common room again, heading towards Ravenclaw Tower.
He was an idiot.
Monster.
Remus had heard what Thalia had said to him. I hate you. It hurt, it really did, and yet he was still trying to take care of her. He sighed and ran his free hand through his hair, weaving through the shadows of the hallways so he wouldn't get caught. With that thought in mind he began jogging, the sweater clutched to his chest as he went to the Ravenclaw Tower.
He made it there quicker then he ever had before - out of breath, nonetheless. His shoes echoed around the hall, the hard soles of his dress shoes a burden. Remus grunted a bit out of frustration, knocking the eagle knocker and getting inside. With a quick scope of the room he made his way towards the girls dorms again, getting a sense of deja vu from when he did this the first time.
Only now he was inside the room, not hidden behind some plant. With a quiet click from the door he silently made his way towards Thalia's bed, watching as she nuzzled her cheek into the pillow. Quickly, he placed the sweater on her bedside table and bolted out of the room, not trying to be seen by any Ravenclaw's.
He had done it successfully, making his way back out to the Hogwarts hallways. With a sigh of relief and a racing heart, he smiled. Even with Remus' gaze on the floor he still smiled. He was smitten with Thalia and he had no idea why. She hated him and wasn't afraid to tell him that.
Maybe that was the reason he liked her so much.
