"And you're sure you're feeling better?"
"I'm sure, honey."
Logan sighed as he buckled in his seatbelt, sitting in the driver's seat of his car with his husband in the passenger's next to him. Patton was certainly cured of his sickness at this point, but Logan didn't want him to feel obligated to come back to work that day if he still needed another day to rest. Frankly, he wished he needed another day to rest just so neither of them had to be apart for so long in the day as they usually were.
"If you say so, love."
This was how their mornings usually went, though. They'd get up, get ready, pack their lunches, and Logan would drive them both to work. And it was nice to be back in the routine, it was nice to have a schedule to follow where Logan could teach his classes, have lunch with his husband, and they'd go home together soon enough- since both of their last classes that semester ended at 1:30. But it had been very nice taking two days off and being able to cuddle and sleep in with each other.
"I'll miss you today," Logan commented as he drove. Patton smiled over at him before grabbing his hand and squeezing it.
"I'll miss you too, Lo. You'll be fine without me, won't you?"
"Yes. It's only for a few hours, as usual. And then we can have lunch together, of course."
Luckily, the college was only a half an hour drive or so, so the two got there decently fast and walked with each other to Logan's classroom, which was the closest to the entrance. Logan embraced his husband outside the door and gave him one last kiss before Patton walked off to his classroom, which was in another building.
Logan entered his classroom. Upon entering he noticed all of his ten first class students were seated, which was not unusual necessarily but at this moment it was because usually they would be talking to each other. And right then they were instead listening to someone else speak, a femininely-presenting person who was standing in front of Logan's desk. The person turned to look at Logan, looked him up and down and then smiled.
"Uhm, good morning," Logan raised an eyebrow. "Were you perhaps my substitute while I was gone?"
"I indeed was," the person smirked and began walking smoothly over to him, almost in a flirty manner, Logan taking a small step back out of confusion.
"Well, I am here now, so I'd appreciate it if you'd let me teach my class. Thank you for substituting whilst I was gone."
"Oh, no problem. Say, you're handsome... I'm Miss Kelchen, but you can call me Susan. You are?"
"...Professor Logan Croft? My name is on my desk. Now, this class is beginning in just a few minutes so I would appreciate if you'd-"
"Awwe, don't make me leave yet, we just met, cutie."
Logan blinked a few times and glanced towards his students, who all either looked relieved Logan had returned or sympathetic for the situation he had gotten himself into.
"Erm, I do not have the time to talk to you at the moment, ma'am, I am sorry. You'll have to leave."
"Fine... I'll see you around, though."
Susan trailed her fingers across Logan's shoulder as she walked past him, making Logan shudder and wipe his shoulder off, watching for a moment as she left the classroom. He sighed, shaking off his confusion before waking to his desk.
