As Logan walked through the front doors of his work, he significantly slowed down his speed the moment his foot stepped through the door. His husband, who was holding his hand, continued in as usual, but Logan stayed back, not entirely wanting to go any further. Patton turned around to look at him and sighed.
"Lo-Bear, I know you don't want to go in, but I really don't think she's gonna bother you too much anymore."
It had been a bit more than a week since Logan encountered Susan for the first time, and every day he came into school, she found a way to interact with him, whether he liked it or not. And he didn't like it. He didn't like it at all.
"I don't... I don't enjoy her company, Patton. She flirts with both of us. It makes me very uncomfortable."
"Well, I said I would give you one of the pictures I have of us on my desk to move to yours, so maybe if you put it somewhere where she could see it, she'll get the idea..?"
"Perhaps it will work. I still do not want to work today."
"Logan, come on."
Logan sighed. "Fine, alright."
They kept walking, and when they got to Logan's classroom, he double-checked the woman was not in his classroom already before kissing his husband goodbye and walking in, holding the picture Patton had given him. His students were already in the classroom, chatting amongst themselves, a few noticing as he walked in and placed the picture down at the very edge of his desk.
"Is that a new picture?" One of them asked. Logan nodded.
"Yes. To be honest, this is just another attempt to get Miss Kelchen to stop coming into my room unannounced as much as she does."
A few of his students groaned or murmured in agreement.
"...But that is besides the point. Hopefully you all will not have to deal with her yourselves today, usually she does not come to bother me until later in the day."
The bell rang just then, and so all Logan's students sat down in their usual seats, and Logan got teaching. The period went by relatively quick, soon enough being over, and then a new class began. That period also went by fast. Soon enough students were beginning to slowly shut their computers and put them in their bags as Logan finished up his last few sentences.
"And so, when a stellar collision occurs, there is a chance for hydrogen gas to be released in the surrounding-"
"Lo-Bear~!"
Logan perked up at hearing his classroom door open, a common nickname used for him by only his husband being practically sung but the voice not matching Patton's. Logan scowled.
"...Miss Kelchen. The bell has not rung yet."
"Oh, I know, I just wanted to drop in early."
"You will not be having lunch in here. Also, please do not call me the nickname you just used."
"Awe, what's wrong with Lo-Bear, Lo-Bear? I heard your adorable little friend call you it when you walked in this morning."
"Professor Patton is not my little friend, he is my husband, and he is the only one I allow to call me that," Logan took a second to take a breath, feeling a bit embarrassed. He looked down at the floor and then back up at Susan. "Now would you please-"
"Ugh..." Susan turned to look at Logan's class, "all the good men are gay, am I right, you guys?"
"All of the good men are not gay. You just fetishize us. Please leave my classroom now, the bell has not rung yet."
Miss Kelchen scoffed, a bit offended. She looked at the students, and then back at Logan, and upon realizing everyone was glaring at her, she turned around and left.
"...I suppose some people just want attention in any form they can take it. Erm, I... I've lost track of what I was saying, but you all may go now, I wasn't planning on assigning homework regardless. You can still reach me over email but I will be moving my lunch period to room C107 instead of in here. Have a good rest of your day."
Logan's students began to file out, sending him sad looks as they left, and once he was alone, Logan got out his phone to text his husband that he was coming to his room for lunch so Patton didn't have to walk all the way across campus for nothing. Once the text was sent, Logan grabbed his lunch and began on his way, reaching his husband's slightly larger and much more decorated classroom some minutes later. Patton was waiting for him at the door and locked it behind him once he was inside just to insure any unwanted substitute teachers would have to knock first. Logan walked to Patton's desk, the latter having a hand on his back comfortingly, and they both sat behind the desk next to each other, Logan in an extra chair.
"Did something happen?" Patton asked as Logan got out the lunch he had brought.
"Yes. She came into my classroom before the period ended and flirted with me, again."
Patton frowned, rolling his chair closer to Logan and leaning his head on his shoulder, quickly figuring out it wasn't that comfortable of a position between two chairs and so instead holding his hand.
"You wanna just have lunch in here from now on until she figures out where you are?"
"Perhaps remembering to lock the door will help, but yes, I don't usually enter your classroom anyway, it's a nice change. Though I will have to leave a bit earlier so I can get back to my classroom on time."
"Yeah, that'll probably be okay."
"Yes. I just... I wish this wasn't happening in the first place. She is making me quite angry."
Patton moved from holding Logan's hand to rubbing his arm. "Well, I promise you that if she's trying to separate us, it won't work."
"Of course it won't. But it is very infuriating."
They finished their lunch at that point, which was always relatively small since they ended up going home not too long after lunch and could just eat a snack upon arriving back. Once they were done, Patton suddenly stood up and sat back down in his husband's lap, causing Logan to fluster a bit and chuckle.
"Someone could see us, you know, Patton. We are at work."
"My door isn't like yours, it doesn't have a window. And it's locked. I just wanna cuddle for a sec."
"Soon enough our age will catch up with us and we won't be able to do this anymore."
"Which is why I'm doing it now."
Logan sighed, and then nodded, Patton smiling and laying his head on Logan's shoulder. They sat there and hugged for a good while, and then they shared a brief kiss, which turned into them becoming too comfortable to pull away. They sat in each other's arms, lips connected but staying still, for what felt like an eternity, and it felt amazing. The stress of worrying about Miss Kelchen completely melted away from Logan's mind, his skin tingling from the touch of his husband's hands that he had felt a thousand times before.
The feeling of how long they had been there suddenly caught up to Logan, though, and he pulled away, reaching for his phone. His class began in about six minutes- the time it took to cross campus.
"Ah- I've been here for too long, I'm sorry, Pat. I have to go teach."
Patton hummed and kissed his forehead before getting himself to a standing position. They shared one more quick kiss and a hug once Logan had stood up, too.
"Promise to cuddle with you when we get home," Patton smiled as Logan started towards the door. "I love you."
"I love you, too."
Logan went back to his classroom and arrived just in time for the bell to ring, the thought of being able to cuddle with his husband floating in his mind for the rest of the day.
What a perfect opportunity.
