Present.

I swam in the deep ocean waters, swaying between the coral reef edges and colorful fish. Down here I felt at peace, feeling weightless. Better yet, I could stay down here forever, since I had realized that among my many talents of being a mermaid, was that I could breathe under water.

I saw a shimmering pink shell and pushed off a rock, guiding myself towards the glittering object. I pick it up, and admired the spiral shape of it. I pushed it in my satchel.

It had been six years since that fateful evening where I watched Malaki kill Jake. I had learn as much as I could about Malaki since then. He was a Dark Fae, a completely different species to me. He was the Prince of Darkness, and sent to be most of the Dark One's bidding.

The Dark One was a different story. I did not know much about him. He would send Malaki down, while he stayed hidden in palace, ruling over his people in a place called the Dark Realm.

I had learnt there were different Realms too. Dark Realm, which had previously been known as the Fae Realm, or Oblivion, but after the Dark One took over, it was renamed.

"Marilla." I heard the words ripple through the water as it touched my body.

I smiled hearing Max's voice. I moved my hands around my body, and pressed my palms to face downwards. I immediately felt the energy around me, the water hurtled me upwards before I shot to the surface of the water, soon flying into the air. I looked down to see Max on the beach. He looked so much more mature now that he was older. He was now twenty-four. His arms were folded over his toned chest, impatiently waiting for me.

I aimed my landing, and came crashing towards Max, he saw where I planned to land and began widening his stance and getting ready to defend himself.

I landed on top of him but before I could wrap myself around him, he swiftly gripped onto my shoulders and threw me into one of the closest trees.

I hit the tree with a painful thud. I winced as my world slightly spun, blood trickling down my temple.

His dazzling green eyes narrowed at me. His face now wore stubble that brought a masculine tone his otherwise pretty face. His body was broader, and larger. "That left you completely open." Max said as he walked towards me.

"Noted," I said rubbing my head. My fingers dipped into the blood where I had cut my skull open against the tree. Maxwell also did not take it easy on me, which I appreciated, since my Uncle sometimes did. Sometimes.

"Is that the best you got?" He said in a mocking taunt.

I snapped my eyes at him my blood starting to boil. His eyes widened, but before he could react I flicked my fingers, sending a laser of water into his side. It threw him backwards, trapping his against the tree as he tried to fight against the powerful burst.

I smiled as I continued to watch the water turn Maxwell into an annoyed looking wet dog. "Okay okay." He said in defeat, unable to move against the tree.

I relaxed my hand and sent Maxwell a cocky smile. He shook off his soaking wet hair.

His crystal green eyes looked over me, as he gave me a mischievous smirk. "I am still better an single had combat." He reminded me with a wink.

I rolled my eyes, "I am better at about... " I tapped my fingers on my lips, "Oh right, everything else." I said with a proud smile.

"Watch Mermaid," Max warned as he stepped in closer to me, "No one likes a spoilt princess."

I sent my fist into his arm and he winced out in pain. He began rubbing up and down the spot I had hit him.

"Maxwell, Marilla, come." Isaac said sternly. I turned to see My Uncle watching us, his hands behind his back. He gestured for us to follow him with his head before he turned on his heels and made his way towards the training facility.
