Part 39 "Ruined"

JIHYO'S POV

Chaeyoung's operation is scheduled today, preferably in the morning. I should take care of the bills and we're lucky that we have Tzuyu to manage the coffee shop. I checked Chaeyoung's bank account and the balance is low. Then, I looked at him sleeping peacefully. I can't imagine my life without Chaeyoung. I'm tearing up again.

I wipe it as soon I notice my tears are overflowing. Chaeyoung can't see me like this. Then my phone rang. I stood up and walked outside the room, trying not to wake up Chaeyoung.

"Hello, dad? "

"Hey, sweetie. How are you and your brother?" His dad said, and she can't stop her voice to crack up.

"What's wrong sweetie? Are you crying?"

How can I explain our situation today? Chaeyoung still not in good terms with him. I cleared up my throat and gain enough courage to say it. I don't want any regrets anymore.

Jihyo said in her mind while holding her phone.

"Dad.." Jihyo said.

"Dad..I'm sorry. It's my fault. I don't have the right to become a sister to Chaeyoung. I'm not a good sister." Jihyo blaming herself.

"Dad..Chaeyoung has a brain tumor. Dad, he's in pain. And I can't even do a thing to help him..." Jihyo said as she cried hard on the phone. She's waiting for her Dad's answer.

"What hospital?" His dad asked.

"Why? Are you coming? No, dad not now. If he see you today, he probably change his mind and not to push through the surgery. I'll tell you if you can come. But not today Dad." Jihyo said as she still sobbing.

"Alright, please inform me asap when. I'm so sorry. I'm not a good father too. I failed as a parent to the two of you. I'm so sorry Jihyo. We should be there in your place, taking care the both of you." His dad mumbled as Jihyo noticed the changes in his voices. It's almost a crying one.

"No, dad. I understood, you're doing it for us. Don't blame yourself." Jihyo said as she tries to soothe the guilty feeling of their father.

Then, a nurse come closer to Jihyo showing she's tapping her watch. The surgery is up.

"Dad, I have to go. Chaeyoung's surgery will be starting now. I'll text you this hospital's address. Bye."

Then, she go back inside the room and sa Chaeyoung is already woke up.

"How's your feeling Chaeng? Are you ready?" Jihyo said as she caressed her brother's arm.

"I'm ready Noona." Chaeng just smiled and nod gaving an assurance that everything's gonna be okay to her sister and let her to hug him.

The other nurses pull back his bedding and proceed to surgery room. Dr. Kim was already inside.

Jihyo went to stay at the mini church of the hospital when Nayeon and Jeongyeon arrived.

"Hey, Jihyo. Chaeyoung's already at the surgery room?" Jeongyeon said as she tapped the shoulders of Jihyo. Nayeon just beside her and hold her hands.

"Jihyo, just stay calm. Nothing's bad gonna happen to him, okay? God will make a way. Chaeyoung is a cub. He's a fighter." Nayeon was comforting her and wipe Jihyo's tears using her thumb.

"I don't want to wish someone to have difficult times in their life, but why of all people, my brother is the one who's experiencing this kind of struggles? Can it just be me please? Why him?" Jihyo asked.

"No one wants this Jihyo and no one should be blame. Maybe this is one of the main challenges for him that he should face. For him to become more strong person than we ever know. For him to know how to stand up on his own. And I know he will surpass all of this. I know Chaeyoung, he's a tough one Jihyo." Nayeon said and hug her.
