"The only pain I feel is knowing that I hurt you."
He put his hand over hers, looking at her. She stared at the wall, not making eye contact with him.
"Please Skylar. Please believe me. I was so so so stupid." He begged, slowly sitting up, gently grabbing her chin and making her look at him. "I'm really sorry."
She sighed and looked into his eyes. "Alex..." She began, before he leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. She melted against him, closing her eyes and gently pressing him back so he was laying back down. Moving so she was straddling his waist, she deepened the kiss and ran her fingers slowly through his hair. His arms wrapped around her, holding her to him, but not so tight that she couldn't stop him if she wanted to. He didn't want her to feel trapped. He wanted her to want him as much he wanted her.
Skylar was the one to break the kiss, and she hid her face in the crook of his neck. Her body started shaking, and her tears dripped down onto his bare skin. He wrapped his arms tighter around her, stroking her hair with his free hand. A frown brought down the corners of his lips and he turned his head, kissing the side of her head.
"I will never forgive myself for what I did to you Skylar, and I will spend the rest of my life, trying to make it up to you." He whispered softly into her ear. "I am so sorry."
Skylar simply clung to him until she could calm down, and get the tears to stop flowing.
"I'm sorry. I should probably go." She told him, pulling back and quickly wiping her eyes with her hands.
He sighed and reached up, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear once she was done. "You shouldn't be sorry Skylar, it's alright to cry."
Getting off of him, she straightened herself out and looked down at him. "I hope you feel better." She whispered, and turned to leave.
"Promise you'll come over and work on the project with me tomorrow." He pleaded, grabbing her hand.
She smiled sincerely and gently squeezed his hand. "Of course." She told him, and he grinned. "See you tomorrow." She waved goodbye and left, sighing. She knew that Kaitlyn was going to chew her out and she didn't know what to do. She didn't know what to do about anything anymore.
Getting into her truck, she started it up and drove away, not looking back at the house. One thing was for sure. Skylar would go to Alex's house tomorrow to finish up that project.
She headed to Lucas's house, parked across the street because Kaitlyn had taken the spot in front of the house, and went inside. She didn't really bother to knock, and just shouted, "It's just me!" So, they would know who had come in through the door.
She heard some shuffling and when she came around the corner, she saw Kaitlyn and Lucas on opposite ends of the couch. There were indents in the middle, so she knew they had been sitting very close together. Kaitlyn's shirt was pulled up a little bit and Lucas's hair was a bit ruffled. Skylar just raised an eyebrow at the both of them, as they tried to look innocent.
"Took you long enough." Skylar replied with a smirk, and both of them blushed. Kaitlyn stood up after a moment of silence and grabbed the bag that was beside the couch.
"I have all of your things. So, we can head over to my place now, if you want." She told her, and Skylar nodded in reply.
"Alright, let's go then." Skylar gave Lucas a hug, and they both waved goodbye after they headed out the door. She quickly called her mom and told her that she was going to stay at Kaitlyn's house for a couple days so they could study for a unit final. It technically wasn't a lie, because there was a huge test coming up and she had planned to study with Kaitlyn anyways. After she had gotten permission, Kaitlyn and her drove in their separate vehicles to Kaitlyn's house.
