Alex's P.O.V.
After getting home last night and seeing Sky in the morning, Alex couldn't stop thinking about her. After all, why would he? Cuddling with her in the park had got him thinking. Could they have a real relationship? After all, Alex could use a steady girlfriend for awhile. But Skylar would probably be clingy and that was something he couldn't deal with. Not with him wanting to get on his bike and get as far away from civilization as possible. That wouldn't be fair to Sky to get involved with her and then leave. He already was involved though, they had a small relationship but it was still something.
Right now it was something good. He needed to change that. For both of their sakes.
Sky's P.O.V.
Soon, she saw Alex's truck pull up along the curb, a worried look on his face. She walked over and climbed inside, buckling up before looking out the window.
Thankfully, he took the hint that she didn't want to talk and put the vehicle in drive. They sped underneath the overhanging street lights, every once and awhile seeing a light flicker for merely a second.
It only took a little while to get to his house and yet the silence was nearly killing the both of them. Alex pulled up into his rocky driveway and Skylar stared ahead at his broken house that looked so cold. Where was Grace?
"Grace is at a friends house. The mother takes care of her when I can't." Alex murmured as if he had read my thoughts. His voice was cautious, like he was nervous about what she would think or say.
"I like Grace. I'm glad there is someone to take care of her when you're busy." She smiled softly at him and he grimaced at the pity in the small gesture.
"Me too." He muttered, getting out of the car and going around to her side to help her out. He opened the door and before she knew it, his hands were on her waist. They stayed there for a moment before he help her down. He motioned her towards the house and grabbed her bag for her, following close behind after he had shut the vehicle's door. Once they were inside, she took her bag from him and set it on a chair.
Letting out a sigh, she spun around to face him, not realizing he was so close. Taking a step back, she looked at him before quickly looking away. His hand reached up and gently gripped her chin, making her look straight into his eyes. They seemed to stay like that for awhile, taking small steps backwards until her back was pressed up against a wall. His gaze never left hers and it seemed to be swallowing her whole. Especially her common sense.
His hands were now pressed against her hips, holding her tight between the wall and him. She broke their gaze and glanced down at his lips, expecting a smirk to appear. But he was entirely serious.
A shaky breath escaped her and then he smiled.
"Still scared?" He murmured softly, his warm breath fanning her lips.
"Of course n--" And finally his lips brushed against hers.
"Good." He whispered before pressing his lips entirely to hers. The kiss was slow and gentle, his hands slightly pushing up her shirt, thumbs rubbing circles on the exposed skin of her hips. One of her hands gripped his arm, her fingers touching the muscles. Her other hand worked its way into his hair, holding him in place against her lips. Eventually their lips separated from each other and they were left catching their breath. Alex stared into her eyes, searching them for something. He gave her a sad smile before releasing her. She let him go as well and watched him walk into the kitchen, away from her.
Alex's P.O.V
He knew he shouldn't have kissed her, but it was the only thing he needed to be able to let her go. Now, the memory of the kiss was etched into his brain and he knew he would never be able to forget her. After their kiss, he had searched her eyes for regret, hoping that there would be some. Then, maybe, she could let him go easier. But there had been none.
