I know. I know. How cliche is it for the captain of the junior varsity football team to be dating the captain of the cheerleading squad. How much more ABC Family can you get? But it was true. I, Y/N Y/L/N, captain of the cheerleading squad was dating JV football captain Hayes Grier.

We were currently at the championship game and boy were we pumped. We were going to have the entire crowd out of their seats and cheering on our boys. We wanted to win. Partly because we wanted the trophy but mostly because we wanted to say we were able to beat the undefeated. Westridge High School was 8-0 and our long-term rivals. They had beat us the last two years but we were determined to bring home the trophy this year.

It was about 10 minutes before the game started and each of the teams were practicing on opposite ends of the field. As me and the girls were going over some cheers and practicing some stunts a couple of the Westridge boys walked up to us. We were taught from the beginning of the year never to associate with any of them. So when they came over whistling at us we paid them no mind.

That was until one of them, number 35 to be exact, came over and stole my pom pom.

"Hey! Give it back! Should't you be preparing for your loss over with your team?" I asked, hearing the rest of the girls laugh.

"No, but I should be preparing for when you give me a victory kiss after we crush your tiny school." he answered, his mates letting out oohs.

"In your dreams Westridge!"

"Oh you know it baby! Every night!"

"Hey! 35! We got a problem here?" Hayes came running over. Pure anger and hatred on his face.

"Nah man! Just talking to my new sugar mama! Ain't that right hotstuff?!" He remarked. A cocky grin on his face.

"Well it looks to me like you're bothering our girls. More importantly, my girlfriend. Now why don't you march your pathetic ass back on over to your side of the field before I do something we both regret."

The boy looked over Hayes' shoulder to see that his disturbance was peaking the interest of many other members of our team.

"Whatever man." Number 35 stated as he got up to walk away.

"Yeah whatever man. You just watch your ass on the field. Wouldn't want someone to smash that ugly little face of yours." Me and the rest of the girls busted out laughing as the boy ran back to his team.

"You girls good?" Hayes asked looking at the girls. They all nodded or murmured a quite yes, still giggling to themselves over what just happened. Hayes turned and walked over to me placing one hand around my waist and leaned down to softly kiss me. All the girls aww'ed and most of the boys whistled or yelled something along the lines of "Get It Grier!" He just simply smiled before kissing me again and picking up my pom pom that the other jerk threw on the floor.

"Don't worry baby. We'll get him on the field." And that's exactly what happened. The game had started. We were were up by 7 with 30 seconds left to go. Hayes had made sure that whenever a play allowed it, his defenders would tackle number 35. And with one more final touchdown we won the game. The crowd was going ballistic. Jumping up and down, clapping, screaming, and piling out onto the field. Me and the rest of the squad followed behind searching for our boys to congratulate them. They were all in the lineup to shake hands with the other players.

Once all the players got to number 35, they skipped him and moved to the next one. It was quite a funny sight. After they finished their lineup they all huddled around and did their little cheer of victory. Followed by Hayes being thrown onto the shoulders of his teammates holding up a trophy almost the size of me. I could sense that it might be a little while before I got to give him a congratulatory hug and kiss so I just smiled up at him and blew him a kiss from where I was standing. Happy Hayes and protective Hayes were my two favorite sides of him.
