You pet Cameron's dogs' fur. It was so soft and warm. Jake made you feel wanted and loved for some reason. Of course, Cameron did too...but it was different. He was your best friend, he had a girlfriend, and you were just there.

Of course you had some feelings for him, but you couldn't really interfere with his relationship. His relationship with her is perfect. Tan, blonde, tall, gorgeous.
A typical hot girl, of course Cameron would go for her.
You sigh as you talk to Jake. You pet him as he closes his eyes. "Thank you." You smile. Cameron asked you to dog sit while he went out with his girlfriend. You couldn't say no, although it did hurt you, you didn't mind it. You had nothing else to do anyways.
You stayed in your bedroom in your shared aparrment with Jake, until you heard the door open. You knew the sound of a bag hitting the floor; it was Cameron. He'd usually say, "y/n?" or "Home." Whenever walking in the apartment. You get up from your bed as Jake races you to Cameron. You look over seeing him by the doorway, he looked miserable. He ignored Jake, slightly petting him.
"Cam...are you okay?" you ask him worriedly. He doesn't answer you, he goes straight over to the couch. You saw the look of his eyes; they looked as if there were bags under them. You knew he had been crying. You stand on the carpet as he sits down, staring at you. You couldn't see anything in his eyes, none of the lust, or the love. There were just pure hatred. You didn't really understand though.

Without saying anything, he pulled out a ring out of his pocket. It was the promise ring he gave to her. You both spent hours looking for the perfect one for his girlfriend. "No..." you say.
"She cheated." He said. You knew it hurt for him to say. It even hurt for you to hear. He started to sob again as he put his head down to his knees. You immediately sat next to him rubbing his back. You hated seeing him cry. "I'm so sorry Cam." You whisper to him. He starts staring at the ring that he placed on the table. "I loved her." He let out.
"I know you did." You say supporting him. You looked over to Jake who looked gloomy sitting down next to Cameron's leg.
"She was in bed...with someone. I got there, I just. I couldn't y/n." he says with a few breaths. He couldn't speak. Everything was getting to him, it even impacted you.
"Cameron, she doesn't deserve you. You did everything for her. She wasn't worth it." You say trying to make him feel better.
"I don't know what to do." He says as he clears his throat. "Forget her, you don't need her." You say as you hug onto his arm.
You finally notice him move his head towards yours. You saw the sorrow in his eyes. "Thank you, y/n."
"I'll always be here for you, Cam." You say as you kiss his cheek lightly.
It made him smile slightly which made you feel a little better about yourself. "I need...positive people in my life." He says as he pets Jake who started to move his tail back and forth.
"You always had positive people; it was just her holding you back."
You saw the look of Cameron's face. It looked as if everything sunk in for him, he started to realize everything. He agreed with everything you were saying, you knew he was thankful for a friend like you.
"I love you, you know that?" he says as his eyes start to clear up. You start to wipe off the remaining tears on your face as you smile to him. "I love you too Cam." You say as you lean your head into his shoulder.
"No, I really do, you're the best y/n."
He holds your hand into his, he held it tightly. "Although I was dating her, I still had feelings for you. It was just too wrong at the time." He admits.
"Oh...Cam..." you say knowing this whole situation was wrong, you couldn't admit it to him. "You helped me through everything, I don't want to lose you." He continues.
"I loved you for a long time, Cameron...but I think you really need some time to think about everything." You say as you process everything out thoroughly.
"I promise you, I've never been so sure about anything. I need you to be mine y/n." he says holding onto your hand more and more.
You nod your head as you agree with him. He kisses your cheek with those lips you loved. "Let's take it slow though." You say sitting back.
"Please." He agrees and laughs.
