You left the train with Hiigawara and Kamihara in tow, sheepishly scurrying away under the glares of your elders who were silently scolding you for talking so loud during the train trip.
As you walked out of Tokyo Station, the buildings rose up around you. You stared up at them in awe.
"So, [Y/N]. What brought ya to Tokyo?" Kamihara asked with a wide grin.
"I came to visit a friend," you stated.
"Oh, neat!" the blond said, "he a volleyball freak like you?"
"Naturally," you smiled. "he goes to Fukuroudani Academy, have you heard of it?""Oh, yeah! Daigorou 'n I know some guys there," Kamihara exclaimed, "right?"
Hiigawara nodded along in agreement.
"Kamihara and the rest of his team swam against them a few months back," he said."Oh, cool." you smiled.
The three of you walked along the bustling streets talking, almost drowned out by the tsunami of other conversations. Hiigawara stopped between you and Kamihara, causing you both to look where he was.
Tulip Rose Pastry Shop.
"Are you two hungry? because I sure am," he said.
"Great idea, Daigorou! Whaddaya say, [Y/N]?" Kamihara grinned.
"Sure. I could use a snack after that train journey," you said. You entered the pastry shop, awestruck by the cleanly white interior. The queue for food was incredibly long, the shop being seemingly popular.
You all waited almost thirty minutes in the line before you reached the counter. There was a choice of three rose-shaped pastries to choose from - you, Kamihara and Hiigawara all chose separate ones. They seemed incredibly overpriced, but you soon found out why when you bit into yours.
"These are incredible!" you exclaimed, starry-eyed.
"Right? Daigorou 'n I always come here when we take the train to Tokyo station." Kamihara said.
"Yeah. They do some of the best pastries in Tokyo here, in my opinion," Hiigawara offered.
"Maybe!" you chirped, "Kami, these are delicious."Once you had finished, you walked alongside each other until you had to part ways.
"Are ya sure ya know the way?" Kamihara asked, "we can totally walk you to Fukuroudani if yer unsure."
"I'll be fine!" you reassured the both of them, "thank you for accompanying me so far, though."
"It's nothing," Hiigawara spoke this time, "maybe we'll see you on the train home?"
"Maybe," you shrugged, "ah, well. I'll see you two around. Bye, Daigorou-san, Shinji-san.""Quit it with the honorific bullshit!" Kamihara yelled over his shoulder, before he and Hiigawara disappeared into the throngs of people. The streets were very much astir.
You walked on your lonesome, now wary and keeping an eye out for anyone who might aim to follow you after the previous day's events. You eventually reached the gates of Fukuroudani Academy and walked around, entering through the reception.
There at the desk sat a woman with dark brown hair, pulled back into a ponytail, and unusually wide, brown eyes. A golden tag on her lapel read 'Imamura.'
"Erm- pardon me," you spoke, bowing slightly apologetically. She looked up and greeted you with a perfect smile.
"What are you here for?" she asked.
"Ah - one of the students here," you put on a somewhat professional tone, hoping you wouldn't get questioned for trying to take a student out of school.
"Shimei?" she said, clicking her mouse.
"Ah - I'm not appointed. I apologise for the short notice, gomenasai," you bowed. She chuckled.
"The name of the student," she clarified. Your face flushed.
"Ah. Bokuto Koutarou," you said.
"Bokuto... Koutarou..." she murmured, tapping a few keys on her keyboard, "I can send down our duty student to get him now if that would be appropriate.""That would be wonderful," you said.
"Alright," she pulled out a blue slip of paper and scribbled down some kanji, before reaching over her desk and handing it to a small, scrawny-looking kid that had been sat at a small desk. He stood up, taking the slip and walking out.You stood patiently and waited. The student came back, retaking his seat and continuing his work. A few minutes later, Bokuto came through the doors with his bag strap slung around his neck. His face split into a grin when he saw you.
"Hey, Bokuto," you smiled.
"[L/N]!" he chirped. The receptionist, Imamura, cleared her throat."Bokuto-kun, you need to sign out of school," she picked up a biro and tapped a small, blue folder that sat atop her desk.
"Oh, yeah! Thank you, Imamura-san," he said, jumping forwards and grabbing the biro, before jotting down a few characters into the columns on the page. He placed the pen back into the pot and shut the folder once he had finished, before turning to you."Have a good rest of your day, Bokuto-kun," Imamura said.
"You too, Imamura-san!" he called, before the two of you exited through the front doors. You walked a few meters before he started asking questions.
"[L/N], this is crazy. Why're you here?" he asked.
"Rough week." you responded.
"Oh. Why weren't you responding to my texts? I've been having so many issues!" he complained.
"Phone stolen," you said.He frowned.
"Aw, I'm sorry, that sucks," he said, "d'you know who did it?"
"Nope. Oikawa-san showed up though, so I didn't get stolen too." you said.
"Oh, Oikawa. We still on him?" he questioned."What do you mean by on him?" you quirked a brow.
"Well, you used to always talk to me about him. Don't you like him or something?" Bokuto said."That's why I'm having a rough week," you replied, "it's a long story."
"And I've got time!" he said cheerily.
"Oh... okay," you nodded, "well, yesterday, I went out to the mall with my teammates, and on the walk home, some guy came up behind me and grabbed me. Oikawa-san happened to be around and stopped things from escalating, but the guy ran off with my purse. It had my keys, phone, purse, everything. And then later that night, Oikawa-san showed up in the blistering cold to take me for a midnight drive.""Sounds romantic," Bokuto admired, "continue?"
"While he was driving, he- he just... had some stuff to say," you said, "and I completely flipped on him. I yelled at him that I wasn't obligated to be his friend and that life isn't some stupid hallmark movie where everyone gets what they want, and... god, Bokuto. the look on his face. I feel terrible.""Oh," the ace frowned, "that's... not good."
"Right," you said.
"And what did he say back?" he asked."Not much. He tried to get a word in, but I just kept exploding and refusing to hear him out until he said he would drive me home," you put a palm to your forehead.
"That's low, [L/N]. Like, even worse than receiving an oinoru mēru, low," Bokuto said.
"You think I don't know that?" you raised a brow."Ganbare, [L/N], ganbare. Like Ghandi once said; one cat's mistake is another cat's greatest love," the boy stated wisely.
"Ghandi never... never mind. My point is, I need to fix this. I want Oikawa-san as a friend, I really do. But I don't know if he'll ever forgive me," you said."I'm not great when it comes to this love stuff, you know," he suddenly perked up and fumbled for his phone, "but I know who is!"
"Please don't disturb Akaashi-kun, he's in class right now," you sighed. Bokuto paused and slowly slipped his phone back into his pocket."Um. It wasn't Akashi, actually," he folded his arms.
"Akaashi," you corrected.
"Huh?" he blinked.
"Akaashi. Not Akashi." you said.
"That's what I said," he replied."No you- ugh. Then, who were you going to ask?" you grinned. Bokuto paused again.
"Jitsuwa... it was Akashi.""Akaashi."
