You ended up outside a pet store. Your eyes widened.

"Mama, Chichi... what is this?" you asked. Your father let out a hearty laugh.

"We've seen your grades have increased greatly over the past few months, and you've been a responsible volleyball captain as well as responsible overall, " he said, "so we've decided that we're going to get you a cat."

"Mama... Chichi..." you put your arms around both of their necks, hugging them, "thank you."

"Don'r worry about it, my little tsubaki," your mother said, "come on. Let's choose you a lovely cat."

You smiled and nodded, entering the store. You went for a quick look around and saw a cat you adored from first sight. It had thick, rabbitlike fur and the bluest eyes.

"You like her?" a store employee spoke from behind us. Your parents looked to you, expecting an answer.
"Yes. I do," you confirmed.
"That's wonderful. If you'll be taking her home with you. Though she is so young, she has been avoided by all that come here to adopt," the employee shook his head pitifully.

"That's so sad..." you turned to your parents, "can we take her home?"

"If that's what you want, my dear tsubaki," your mother said.
"ah... there is one thing. I hope it doesn't put you off of her, she is truly a lovely cat..." the employee spoke.

The cat shifted to the side and there was a glimpse of black fur among the thick, creamy white.

"These two... it might be a case of separation anxiety, but they become extremely distressed without each other," he explained. You immediately turned towards your parents.

"Mama, Chichi, please!" you clasped your hands together, "they don't deserve such a cruel fate."

Your mom and dad looked at each other and then sighed.
"Alrighr. But on the condition we name one of them," your dad said.

"Arigatogozaimasu!" you exclaimed, bowing repeatedly.
"Now, no need to be so formal, my little tsubaki. You have always had a good heart," your mother said.

"So, you'll be adopting them?"

You had returned home peacefully. You had decided on naming the creamy white cat, whom you had dubbed Sora. It suited her well.

The other cat had been a male with pure, sleek, black fur and bright yellow eyes. Your parents had decided on the name Tooru, which you had tried to protest against, yet they heard none of it.

You turned on your phone and checked your messages - you had a few texts from pretty stranger.

Although you didn't exactly know this person, you couldn't help but feel a sharp pang of guilt for not replying to their messages. You quickly texted back.
