You woke with a start that morning. After eating with your mother and father and then doing some homework, you had fallen asleep, only to have your dreams haunted by the angel face of the stupid setter on the boys' volleyball team.

'I'm a better setter than him anyway.' you thought, pulling on your over-the-knee socks lastly out of your uniform.

You grabbed your volleyball bag since it was your team's practice day after school hours, as well as your schoolbag, and brought then downstairs with you.

"Good morning, Chichi!" you greeted your father as you put your bags by the front door so you wouldn't forget them. You then turned, rushing upstairs before he had the chance to reply.

"Good morning, Mama!" you passed your mother on the stairs.
"Good morning, my sweet tsubaki! Don't forget to brush your teeth!" she said.

"I know, mama, I was just about to!" you said, before entering the bathroom. You brushed your hair and then your teeth, moisturised your face in the mirror and then skipped down the stairs again, jumping the last four.

"Be careful, tsubaki!" your mother used the nickname she always had. "one day you will hurt yourself, and I'll laugh in your face because I have warned you not to do that."

"Some parent you'd be then, Mama!" you grinned, kissing her cheek. You jogged to the kitchen and kissed your father's cheek too.

"Are you not having breakfast, [Y/N]?" he asked.
"Nor today, Chichi. I woke up kinda late so I don't have the time. Now, bye, have a good day at work!" you said, slipping into your shoes and picking up your bags, slinging both over your shoulders. You waved goodbye to your parents and then exited your house, closing the door behind you.

You plugged your earphones into your phone and then started your playlist, Kagerou by Babymetal beginning to play.

It was a fairly blustery day that day, with the clouds blocking the sun, but you didn't mind. You occasionally greeted someone on the street, be it the old bookshop owner or the baker who always made your favourite anpan bread.

You felt a presence beside you and glanced to your right, making a small noise of intrigue. It was Mikazuchi Kagura, a middle blocker on the girls' volleyball team. You removed one of your earplugs, complimenting her long, dark hair.

She thanked you and said that your eyes looked pretty like always, and that she was surprised that the boys on the other team hadn't gotten lost in them.

"Trust me, Mikazuchi, they have. that first year middle blocker, Kindaichi-kun." you sighed.
"Ah, poor you. Of all the ones that chase you, and it had to be Turnip-kun." Mikazuchi sighed.

"Hey, hey! just because I play volleyball doesn't mean I should end up with another volleyballer!" you tutted.

"Id it makes you feel better about being crushed on by Turnip-kun, I hear that the captain likes you as well." the straight-haired girl said with a small smile.

"Not you too!" you exclaimed. "Sakiyama's been pestering me for a whole week, saying that Oikawa-san has his eyes on me!"

"Don't say it too loudly." mikazuchi warned. "we're near the school now - I wouldn't want our setter out of commission because she was attacked by rabid fangirls."

You chuckled.
"I guess not... but really, what does he even see in me? We've never talked properly, not even in middle school." you said.

"I haven't a clue. Maybe he likes you for your looks?" Mikazuchi shrugged as you entered the school building.

"[L/N]-san!" Sakiyama exclaimed, running over and grabbing your hands. You took a step back out of pure surprise.

"Drop the '-san', Sakiyama, you already know I don't like it." you sighed.
"Alright, alright, but I heard the craziest thing earlier and went straight to find you!" the ashy blonde yipped.
