In Your Dreams

When I walk in the door, I'm greeted by slobber and tail wagging before they go and sit in front of their bowls and give me a look.

"Oh you're fine, I'm only late by like 15 minutes."

I fill up their bowls and they happily munch away while I start prepping some dinner. I'm not feeling particularly hungry after all the ice cream so I throw together a salad and top it with my leftover chicken from yesterday.

After I eat I go in the backyard with the dogs and throw their frisbees until they're tired out. Afterwards I throw on some gym clothes and head to the basement to start some kickboxing. Partway through my workout, my phone rings, and I see Tommy's face pop up. I open the video chat and am greeted with three the three smiling faces of Tommy, Dylan and Ryan. I smile brightly as they all shout, "Hello" at me at the same time. I laugh and say, "Hey guys! How's it going?"

"Better now that we're seeing your face," Dylan says.

I roll my eyes, "I miss you too."

"Soooo," Tommy starts, "How was your first day?"

"It was...interesting. I made 2 friends. Charlie and Maddy."

"Charlie! Who said you could speak to boys?" Ryan says.

"Calm down, Charlie is short for Charlotte. You'll be happy to know that all of the boys I have interacted with so far are complete assholes so I will definitely not be pursuing any of them."

"They were assholes to you? What did they do? Do we need to come kick their asses?" Tommy asks in rapid succession.

"No, well sort of. I mean they were assholes to my friends but I handled them just fine. One of them was trying to assault Maddy right in the middle of the hallway and nobody was doing anything about it so I not-so gently removed his hand from her, and threatened him with a dislocated shoulder if he touches her again. That's actually how her and I met."

Tommy touches a hand to his heart and says, "I've never been more proud." I smile at him and shake my head.

"So what are you up to now? Did you do your homework?" Dylan asks.

"It was the first day, we didn't get homework. I'm just getting in a session with the bags actually. I have to make sure I can still kick your asses next time I see you ya know."

Ryan snorts and says, "In your dreams princess."

"Alright, you're on. Guess you have to come visit me now," I say with a wink.

Tommy says, "Alright, well I guess we should let you finish your session. Be good!"

"Call us more!" Dylan says.

"I will, love you guys," I say.

They reply, "love you too, bye," at the same time and then end the video chat. I start my music back up and continue my session.
