*Cade's POV*
We spend the rest of the rest of the week convincing everyone to come to Monroe's party Friday. Naturally, they all come with the promise of free liquor and at the party, Monroe plays a little slide show of her and Maddy breaking down the entire incident, including the photo evidence and it finishes with Monroe saying, "If you're like us and are sick of Mackenzie's shit," and then Monroe and Maddy together say, "Vote for Maddy!" Everyone cheers and Mackenzie storms off and out of the party.
The party is a massive success and we're pretty sure Maddy is going to win.
When Monday comes around, once again neither of us wants to go to school. At lunch we discuss college, which is a topic Monroe and I have tried to avoid.
"So, has anybody gotten acceptance letters yet?" Charlie asks.
"Um, yeah actually, I got my acceptance letter with a full ride to San Fran State accounting," Xamder says.
"Holy shit, no way! That's awesome dude!" I give him a hug. I know this was his way out of his shitty life. Everyone talks about where they've been accepted, but other than Xander, the only person I really care about is Monroe. My only thoughts about college before her were that I needed to get a good paying job so that my mom could finally leave Ben, which means I only applied to local schools. But now, I find myself unable to picture a life without Monroe in it and my gut twists at the thought that she might go to school somewhere else.
"I accepted my offer to major in philosophy at Stanford yesterday," Monroe says with a smile.
"Holy shit!" I say and hug her and kiss her.
"I'm gonna get my undergrad and then stay at Stanford for law school and then be the best damned child's advocate attorney this country has ever seen," she says with conviction.
"I have no doubt you will be," I say and kiss her cheek. "And if Xander and I are at San Fran State, we'll be so close."
"I may or may not have considered that," she says with a wink. God I love this girl.

We're about 3 weeks away from prom night and at lunch Monroe groans and says, "If I have to see one more fucking prom-posal I'm going to kill someone."
"What if I had one planned out for you?" I ask sarcastically.
"Oh please, we both know a prom-posal is the most anti-Cade thing ever. You're probably more opposed to them than I am."
I kiss her lips and say, "You're right. I don't have to ask to know you're coming with me."
"Ugh, gross, get a room," Xander says and Monroe throws a fry at him.
After lunch, I meet Xander by the smoke pit.
"So you ready?" he asks me.
"Yeah, of course. They'll be there. You're lucky I like you, because Monroe is never gonna let me live down the fact that I played a part in this."
When the bell rings, I go pick up Monroe and Charlie from class and lead them to the atrium. I see Jason holding up a sign that says, "Charlie will you go" and then Brett holding one that says "to Prom with me?" Xander walks out between the two signs and says, "So? Will you?"
Redness has completely taken over her face when she finally tells him yes. I look to Monroe and she says, "You knew about this and you didn't stop me from dissing prom-posals at lunch?"
"It would have looked suspicious if i had defended them."
"Fair," she replies. She walks up to Xander, pokes his chest and says, "We might be friends but make no mistake, if you hurt her, I will come for you."
He raises his arms in submission and says, "Geez, I know, don't worry, I was already afraid of you."
"Good," she says, eyes still narrowed.
