*Cade's POV*

"Where have you been?" Xander asks as I sit down at our table.

"Around," I reply. He gives me a look, but doesn't ask any more questions. The guys' debate about which fast and furious movie is the best fades into the background as I pick at my burger.

I know that I shouldn't have just pulled Monroe into the classroom like that, but I just can't seem to control myself around her. I've wanted more of her since the party and I still want more. I swear I would have fucked her right in that classroom if she hadn't stopped me. And then for some reason I agreed to talk with her later. What the fuck was I thinking? What do I even say to her? I've never in my life had to actually try with girls. I'm way out of my element. What if she tells me she's not interested? What if she tells me that she is? At this point, I'm not sure which one is more terrifying. I know I'm no good for her. Maybe it would be better for both of us if I just left her alone. That thought makes me feel physically ill as my insides twist.

The whole way through accounting I'm just waiting for it to end so I can get to Philosophy and see her again. I'm nervous about her reaction, but when she gives me a smile, my nerves settle a little and I return the smile and take my seat.

The teacher explains that we're doing a project in pairs and when Monroe agrees to do it with me, I am way happier about it than I should be. I'm actually excited to do school work. What is this girl doing to me? When she returns from the teacher's desk she asks, "Do I want to know why the teacher felt the need to ask me if I was sure I wanted to be your partner?"

"Did she really?" I ask and she nods. Fuck. "No you probably don't want to know." She looks at me suspiciously but doesn't ask any more questions and says, "So we got Leibniz."

After she tells me about the guy and then we get to work researching, I realize that I'm going to have to put in a lot of effort if I want to come close to the level she's operating on for this project. Once we get a logical outline on paper, the bell rings and we walk to the gym together.

Once I reach the change room, Xander is just throwing his shirt on and he tells me that Brett and Jason are already in the gym. I throw my shit in my locker and pull off my shirt and hear Xander snort so I turn to look at him and say, "What?"

"Have you seen your back recently?"

"Obviously not. I don't just go around checking myself out in mirrors."

"Well, you should." I walk over to the mirror and see two sets of nail marks running down my back. For some reason, seeing them makes me smile like an idiot. I turn back to Xander still grinning and he says, "Do I even have to ask?" I just roll my eyes and he says, "Thought so," with a smirk.

After the game I head over to Xander's for a drink. As we crack open a beer and take our seats on the lawn chairs he says, "So, your back tells me that your conversation went well with Monroe today?"

"There was no conversation."

"Explain."

"Well my intention was to pull her into a classroom to talk before lunch but then when we got there, my good intentions went out the window."

"Jesus Cade, please tell me you did not fuck that girl in the middle of school."

"No, I didn't. We got interrupted by her friends calling her."

"So let me get this straight, instead of asking her out like a normal human, you dragged her into a classroom and shoved your tongue down her throat?"

"Yeah, pretty much. I did tell her I would text her so we can talk later."

"Are you actually going to talk to her this time?"

"That's the plan."
