*Monroe's POV*

This time, Maddy straightens her hair completely and puts it in an Ariana Grande style ponytail, Charlie's is half up with beachy waves and mine is left down with loose curls. We have on similar makeup to last Saturday but we all have a more natural lip colour this time.

Charlie wears a dark red one piece with mesh cutouts at the sides, Maddy has on a classic bikini in a peach colour and I wear a black bikini with straps that criss cross around my ribs and stomach. We each add on some gold jewelry and a pair of very short jeans shorts in an attempt to pretend this counts as a real outfit.

We walk back downstairs and the whatever conversation the guys were having instantly stops.

"Alright boys, no need to catch flies. You can close your mouths," I say dramatically.

Cade looks over to his three friends before looking at me and saying, "Please tell me you're putting something over that," He says, voice full of concern.

"Why on earth would I do that?"

"Because if everyone looks at you the same way these three goons are right now I might have to murder someone tonight." At this their heads all snap up and Xander says, "I swear, I was looking at all three of them. You would have to be a robot to not check them out." Jason and Brett both nod aggressively, clearly fearing for their lives.

I give him a sweet smile and say, "So? Let them look. Let them imagine whatever they want. You'll still be the one coming home with me."

I know I've said the exact right things to hit his ego and he grins and says, "You make an excellent point."

"I know," I say conceitedly. "Now, who wants some shots?" Everyone raise their hand so we head over to the bar and I pour out 7 tequila shots I grab some pre-sliced lime wedges from the mini fridge and we all start licking and putting salt on our hands when Charlie says, "Um, I've never done this before. Why are we all licking our hands?"

I say, "Okay, so you have to lick your hand to get the salt to stick and then it goes salt, then shot then lime. Got it?" SHe nods and we all take the shots. Charlie takes it like a champ and then goes, "Woo! Let's do another!"

"Okay wait!" Maddy says, "how about the girls do one and one of you guys take a boomerang for us!" She hands Xander the phone and he does a very good job at capturing our shot taking. Maddy posts the video on insta and tags us. By this point it's after 9pm so we order the uber.

Arriving at the beach, the fire is already going, a keg is tapped and there are several bottles of liquor on a fold out table. The three girls walk in front with the guys following closely behind us.

"Are people not worried that cops are gonna come?" I ask.

"Nah, as long as it doesn't get rowdy enough to disturb people in the area they tend to leave us alone," Maddy explains.

The whispers and stares start the moment people notice our group walking up. As we walk past Grant and the football idiots, Grant comes up to Maddy and says, "Hey Maddy, you look really great tonight, would you-"

"Not if my life depended on it," She cuts him off, not even once looking at him. She gives him the finger as we stroll past.

I snort and put my knuckles out for a fist bump which she returns.

"Wow that was savage," Brett says in an amused tone.

"He deserved it," Maddy says.

We reach the drink table and all of us opt for keg beer. We had enough liquor at my house. We decide to get a game of flip cup going. The night goes on and we play various drinking games including beer pong and some drunken beach volleyball.

At one point a bunch of people are dancing around the fire pit and I find my arms around Cade's neck. He has one leg in between mine and I'm grinding against him in a way that is probably not appropriate for a public setting. Suddenly, the music changes to a one direction song and Maddy runs over with Charlie in tow and pulls me away. We dance together and scream the lyrics into the night.

By the time the song ends, we're all laughing too hard to sing anymore. The next song is back to club music and the boys come over to joining us. Cade is grinding behind me, and I look over to see Xander dancing on Charlie while Jason and Brett have Maddy sandwiched between them.

"I'm gonna go get a refill quickly!" I say to Cade.

I walk over to the keg and am intercepted by Mackenzie who is wearing the most outrageous neon pink bikini top with triangles that are at least 3 sizes too small for her boobs.

"Hi Monroe!"

"Hello."

"You know, I bet you think you're so special. Everyone around here acts like you shit rainbows but I hope you're aware that it won't last. You're shiny and new and mysterious, but that'll go away and I'll still be at the top of the food chain."

I walk around her and start filling my cup from the keg and say, "Alright, Mackenzie. Whatever helps you sleep at night."

"I bet you haven't slept with him yet have you?"

"Excuse me?" What is she getting at here?

"Cade. You haven't fucked yet."

"That's not really any of your business."

She gives me a smug smirk, "I knew it. That's the only reason he's following you around like a lost puppy right now. He does love a good challenge. I would bet that the second you sleep with him, he moves on to someone else."

As much as I don't want them to, her words awaken that little nagging section of my brain that is concerned about that exact scenario. But there's no way I'm going to tell Mackenzie that.

"And you know how I know that, Monroe?"

"Please, enlighten me," I say, voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Because that's what he does to every girl. I've known him for years and I've seen this play out more times than I care to count," I catch the sadness in her voice right at the end and I can't help but let the smugness run through my words when I say, "Oh, I get it now. You're jealous of me."

I see her jaw twitch and I know I've got her. "I bet he did that exact thing to you and now you can't let it go. That must be a real hit to your ego that he's now hanging around the new girl and the girls you worked so hard to make social rejects. You know, I might feel sorry for you if you weren't such a raging bitch."

She just stands there with her mouth hanging open trying to come up with something to say but I walk away before she has a chance and throw a, "Goodnight Mackenzie," over my shoulder.

I go up to our group and say, "How about we ditch and continue this party at my house?"

Everyone nods and Maddy yells, "Yes! Pool Party!" I cover her mouth to shush her, "Jesus Maddy, I don't want the whole fucking school showing up!"

She giggles and says, "Woops, my bad."
