You Have Mine

*Monroe's POV*

As I stand there holding onto Cade, the hole in my heart feels full again. I tried so hard to hide my past, and yet, telling Cade felt like a giant weight was being lifted off my shoulders. He knows everything and he's still here.

"You know what you said earlier about me taking your heart with me?" I say into his chest.

"What about it?"

I pull back and look into his eyes and say, "Well, you have mine, too."

He leans down and kisses me with so much emotion that it overwhelms me. It's like I can feel all the things neither of us is capable of putting into words. He pulls away and presses his forehead to mine.

I sigh and say, "We should probably go back before someone sends out a search party."

We start walking back and Cade takes my hand in his and asks, "So what are you planning to do about your date?"

"Nothing. Matt is just a friend."

"Is he aware of that? Because it didn't seem like it."

"Are you jealous?"

"No!" he says too quickly.

"Uh huh. Sure," I say sarcastically.

We get back to the house and once again, whispers start as we walk through the room. We ignore them and continue to the backyard. I look around and spot Charlie talking with Xander but Maddy's not with her. I look over to where we were sitting earlier and find Maddy sitting in Matt's lap making out with him.

"Still jealous of Matt?" I say as I point them out to Cade.

"Nope, never was," he says with a wink. I just roll my eyes at him and we make our way over to Xander and Charlie.

When Xander sees us holding hands he smiles widely and looks at Charlie and says, "Told you so."

Charlie giggles and says, "Yes, you did. I'm sorry I ever doubted you oh wise one."

"Wow, so much sass!"

"I learned from the best," she says and smiles at me.

"So, you two sorted out your shit?" Xander says casually.

"Yeah, we did. Who knew sharing how fucked up we both are would actually be helpful?" I say sarcastically.

"Ah yes, the classic childhood trauma discussion," Xander says. "So, which of you is more fucked up?"

"I am," I say at the same time Cade says, "She is."

"Interesting. It's gotta be a good story if that's the case."

"I've already surpassed my limit for emotional discussions this evening so you'll have to wait a bit to hear it."

"Deal," he says.

"So when exactly did Maddy and Matt happen?"

"Shortly after you left, there was a game of spin the bottle. They were picked near the end and have basically been attached ever since," Charlie explains.

"I ship it," I say with a nod.

"Alright, I vote Cade and Monroe get us some drinks," Xander says.

We head inside and bring out four full cups to find Maddy and Matt have joined Xander and Charlie. We walk up and I say, "I see you guys decided to come up for air."

Maddy blushes and says, "Yeah. Um, sorry. I probably should have checked with you first."

"Why would you need to check with me?"

"Well it kind of seemed like you might have a thing. I -"

"Oh yeah, no that's not a thing. No offense Matt."

"None taken."

Cade pulls me into his side protectively and whispers, "It had better not be a thing."

I roll my eyes and whisper back, "Don't worry, you're my only thing," and kiss his cheek.

"FUCK YES!" I turn around and see Brett and Jason running towards us. They squish me into a hug and when they release me, Brett says, "Thank god you're back. Cade's misery was driving us NUTS."

"Is that so?" I look at Cade and his cheeks are a little red.

"Alright, thank you Brett for that unnecessary commentary," Cade says with an eye roll.

"Anytime dude," he replies with a wink.

After several more drinks and games later, the party starts thinning out and Matt says, "So, I'm gonna go with Maddy. Would it be cool if I just came by tomorrow morning to get my car?"

"Yeah of course. Come by anytime you want," I say with a smile.

Just then my phone pings. "Alright well our uber is here so we're going to get going too."

"Have fun kids! Don't do anything I wouldn't do!" Xander calls after us as we walk away.
