*Monroe's POV*
It's finally prom night. We all get ready at my house with the exception of Brett and Jason who are getting ready with they're dates. Deciding to go along with the casino royale theme, I wear a tight, low-cut black dress with a slit up my left side. Maddy is wearing an a-line, v-neck red dress with a slit up the side and Charlie is wearing a long-sleeved off the shoulder, fitted green dress with, you guessed it, a slit up the side. Cade, Xander and Matt look hot as fuck in their tuxedos when they come to pick us up.
When we arrive at the prom, all eyes fall on us. We know we look good and we don't shy away from the attention.
It turns out this prom did have fake poison martinis and nerf gun assassinations which were actually a lot of fun. It was even more fun because of the flasks we all hid under our dresses. We dance and party the night away until the Prom committee comes to the stage to announce King and Queen.
"Good Evening class of 2021! We're going to read out the voting results, starting with King!" Everyone cheers. "Our winner is....Xander Thompson!" Everyone cheers and claps again.
"And our Prom Queen is....Maddison Sinclair!"
Thank FUCK. She runs up and her and Xander share a dance, which neither of them take seriously and they go back to their dates. All of the shit we went through panned out in the end and the look on Mackenzie's face was definitely worth it.
We dance the night away and I can't seem to remember a time I was this happy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We spend the summer hanging out at each other's houses. Cade moved most of his things into my house so we more or less live together now other than the occasional night of babysitting. Xander and Charlie have officially started dating and all of us have accepted offers to schools in the area so nobody is particularly worried about anything. Things with Cade and I have been incredible. The more time we spend together, the stronger our bond gets. I find myself incapable of even imagining a life where I don't love him.
It's getting close to the end of summer so we have one last party at my house. The usual group comes over and we play games and drink and when we call it a night, Cade and I head to my room. He looks at me and says, "I can never seem to get over how beautiful you are."
My heart melts. "I could say the same about you."
"I love you with my entire soul," he says, reaching for something under the pillows. He pulls out a small box and my heart stops beating.
"We're going to be at different schools next year and even that small distance is too much for me to handle. Our souls are connected in a way not many people get to experience. I understand that to some, we might be too young for this, but I don't care. We're two broken, fucked up puzzle pieces that somehow fit together perfectly. You're mine now and I'm asking you if you'll be in this with me forever baby girl." He opens the box and I see the twisted silver band laced with diamonds and my eyes are burning with tears I don't want to shed. "Marry me?"
I lean my head in to meet his forehead and whisper, "Yes, of course. Your baby girl, forever I'll be," as he slips the ring on my finger.
