*Cade's POV*
As I watch Monroe disappear through the house with her two friends in tow, I throw my head back and groan loudly. When I look back down, Xander is standing in front of me. He raises an eyebrow and says, "Care to tell me what that was all about?"
I explain what happened on the front porch and about the girl in the kitchen and then he says, "So, when are you gonna ask her out?"
I give him a look and say, "Yeah, I don't do that, remember?"
"Just because you haven't dated girls in the past, doesn't mean you can't start. I mean, seriously dude, it's painfully obvious that you're into her. And from that little display I just witnessed, she's into you too."
"How does that make sense, she literally just called me a man whore."
"Jealousy makes people do some strange shit."
I just roll my eyes at him so he says, "Okay, fine if you're not gonna ask her out, then maybe I will. I mean she's hot and I would definitely not be opposed to feeling her tongue in my mouth again." As he's speaking I feel myself getting pissed off and my face heating up. My fists clench and I let out a low growl before noticing the amused smirk on his face.
I realize way too late that he's proving a point about jealousy. I calm myself down and say, "Alright, you proved your point. You can stop smirking now." He grins and asks, "So you're gonna ask her out then?"
"I'll think about it." He claps me on the back and says, "Great! Now that that's settled, let's go get some more drinks."
I wake up the next morning on the couch in Jason's room with a pounding headache. I look over to see Jason Spread eagle in his underwear on his bed, and Xander passed out on the floor. The only memories I have of last night after Monroe left are hazy ones of the four of us chugging liquor and doing keg stands.
Speaking of which, where the hell is Brett? I check my phone and see that it's noon. I scroll through my notifications and see nothing that can't wait. I step over Xander and head to the bathroom. I catch my reflection in the mirror as I walk by. Jesus I look like shit. Good thing I don't need to be anywhere today. I walk back into the room just in time to see Xander peeling himself off of the floor. He looks worse than I do.
"Morning sunshine," I say to him. He glares at me and says, "I feel like a steaming pile of garbage," as he flops down on the couch. "Well you'll be happy to know that you look like one too." He throws a pillow at me. I deserve that.
"Shut up, both of you," Jason mumbles from the bed. I throw the pillow at his face and he groans but sits up and says, "I hate you both."
"Anyone know what happened to Brett?" I ask.
Xander shrugs and Jason says, "He left with some girl."
"Okay well, I'm starving. You guys down for greasy food?" I ask.
"The diner?" Xander says and I nod. It's the place to go for hangover breakfast. I shoot Brett a text telling him that we'll be at the diner in 15 minutes if he wants food. He sends back a thumbs up.
We all throw on our clothes and head out, groaning when we step out into the sunlight. They hop in my car and I fish my sunglasses out of the glove box. When we reach the diner, we find it filled with people from the party. I guess everyone had the same thought as we did. We grab a table and flag down Brett when he walks in.
"So, who was the girl?" Jason asks.
"Just this random chick from my history class. Ashley, I think. No, wait. Abby? Something like that," he shrugs.
"Classy," Xander says.
"So," Brett continues, "Are we going to discuss how it is you're still breathing after your little display with the new girl?" He looks at me before continuing, "Did you decide to just let Xander have her or what?"
"No," I reply coldly.
Xander explains, "Nah, I only kissed her for the game. It's not a big deal. Besides, Cade made sure to stake his claim right after that by sticking his tongue down her throat."
I elbow him in the ribs and glare at him. Brett and Jason just laugh and Jason says, "Why am I not surprised?"
We all get our food and the table goes silent as we enjoy our meals and drink multiple cups of coffee. After the food and coffee, I start to feel a bit more human.
I see Xander scrolling through his phone and he looks at me and says, "Have you checked insta today?" I shake my head. "Check out Maddy's post from yesterday." He shows me the phone and I see a selfie of her, Monroe and Charlie blowing a kiss at the camera.
He clicks on it and we see that she tagged Monroe. He goes to her profile and there's only one picture. It's another one of the three girls from last night. In this one, they're all smiling widely. Xander clicks the follow button and then likes the picture.
He then says, "So we've already covered that Monroe is hot as fuck, but can talk about how good Maddy and Charlie looked yesterday?"
Jason nods and says, "Yeah, 100%. I didn't even know who Charlie was and had completely written Maddy off, but seeing them last night, I think Mackenzie should be worried."
I pull out my phone and open insta and Xander smirks at me and says, "monroexthorn."
I nod and type it in and follow her. My phone pings with a text from my mother.
Mom: Are you able to watch the girls this afternoon?
Me: Yeah, sure. I'll be home in 15.
"Alright, I gotta go, my mom needs me to babysit. Anyone need a drive home?"
Xander says, "Nah I'll hitch a ride with Brett."
Jason says, "Same."
"Cool, see ya tomorrow."
