(y/n) POV:

It was around midnight now and I was keeping watch outside of Elliot's room. I practically had to shove Anakin out of here for my shift, because he didn't want me on guard for some reason. When his shift was over I tried asking him again what his deal was but he just kept saying how I needed to 'stay focused' and 'keep things professional'. Then he didn't even give me time to respond and just left.

I scoffed and leaned against the wall in the hallway. I don't know what was up with his attitude but if he thinks he can boss me around like that, then he's wrong. In fact, part of me wanted to get closer to Elliot just to spite Anakin and show that I wasn't gonna listen to his puerile demands. A devious smile formed on my lips and I silently crept over to the door to Elliot's room, deciding to do just that. This night was probably going to be boring anyways, so I might as well spice it up for myself.

I knocked softly on the door and waited. There was a pause for a few seconds, and then I heard shuffling feet come to the other side of the door.

"Who is it?" The voice of Elliot asked.

I put the side of my head against the door so he could hear my quiet response better, "It's me, (y/n)."

The door opened and revealed Elliot wearing nothing but loose blue shorts and a white tank top, displaying his muscular arms and defined chest. My eyes widened and I blinked a few times, realizing that I should have expected him to be a bit underdressed since it's the middle of the night. I awkwardly cleared my throat and glanced at his amused expression.

"Uh did I wake you?" I asked.

Elliot shrugged and shook his head, "Not really. I couldn't fall asleep, probably because of the crazy day it's been." He chuckled.

I smiled and put a hand on my hip, "Well, do you want that company now? My shift isn't very exciting so I could use it too."

His eyes brightened and he nodded, opening the door all the way for me to step inside and then closing it after. I smirked as I stepped inside, knowing how annoyed Anakin would be with me.

Good, I know he has my best interest at heart but I don't want to be bossed around like a youngling.

I looked around the room and saw some clothes on the bed that Elliot probably borrowed since he didn't bring any. The walls and ceiling were a dark shade of indigo and the bed was just all white. There was one wooden nightstand with a lamp that was currently turned on, and I also noticed his holo-communicator pad on the nightstand as well.

"Come sit." Elliot sat down on the side of the bed and patted at a spot next to him. I sat down next to him and tapped my fingers on my knees. Now that I'm here I don't really know what to do. I turned my head in Elliot's direction and saw that he was already looking at me and smiling.

I laughed awkwardly and decided to start the conversation, "So....what's it like to be the Head of State? Is it a stressful job?" I didn't like small talk but it's better than sitting in silence and waiting for the other person to say something.

He chuckled and shook his head, "It's not typically stressful, aside from today. I trained my whole life to have this position, and even though it was scary at first, I grew to love it. I adore all of my people and try to lead them as best as I can."

Hearing him say that made me happy, because the galaxy needed kind and committed leaders, especially during this war.

I smiled and nodded, "That's good to hear. I'm glad that you care so much for your people."

He reached over to my hand that was on one of my knees and put his over it. "I will always care for as many people as possible, until my last breath."
