(a/n): As I'm getting back to the main plot in this chapter, I just wanted to say that a lot of the factors are pretty much going to be made up purely from my imagination (and some educated guesses lol). Hope that's okay, I just wanted to say this in case some people were confused once they got to those parts❤️
(y/n) POV:
A few days had passed since Anakin and I took Obi-Wan to our secret matchmaking mission. And though he won't outright admit it, I'd say it was a big success. Similarly to Anakin—though not as bad—Obi-Wan often has a hard time whenever he's proved wrong, for basically anything.
We were thankfully able to sneak back into the Temple without being questioned by anyone. Though based on some looks we got, I'm sure some of the Jedi knew we were gone and just decided not to ask.
Today, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Master Luminara were sent to Geonosis because one of our Republic troop transports was attacked. Immediate backup was requested, so they all left early this morning. This must've been pretty bad because Anakin had to take the 501st as well, and they were ordered to stock up on ammunition. I stayed behind because Yoda informed me that him and some members of the Council needed to have a cardinal discussion with me. I didn't really like the sound of that, and I tried not to worry too much even though I had an idea of what it was about.
I sighed as I rubbed my temples and mentally prepared myself for whatever they would throw at me today. I had a feeling it wasn't going to be good, but maybe that's just the pessimism talking from all the other bad things that have happened recently.
I drank some water to help alleviate my dehydration; I typically become thirsty whenever I'm nervous, so I made sure to fill up my water bottle before meeting with the Council.
I sulked down the long hallways, my bones feeling stiff from laying in bed most of the day until now. Somehow, I usually end up feeling more fatigued on days where I don't even do anything.
By the time I got to the familiar setting of the Council room, everyone was present and looked at me expectantly upon my arrival. It was so nerve wracking for me to literally be in the center of their attention, and under all of their gazes. But I concealed my nervous energy and waved politely with a small smile. Windu narrowed his eyes slightly at me, "It seems punctuality is not your strong suit today, Miss (y/l/n)." He chided.
He wasn't wrong. I purposely took my time getting over here because I was tired and truthfully, I had an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach about this meeting.
I nodded and held my hands behind my back, fiddling with my fingers to alleviate my anxiousness, "I'm sorry, Masters. I'll do better next time." I wanted to make an effort to stay on their good side, at least for today.
Everyone seemed satisfied with my response and Windu nodded with an emotionless expression, as usual. I curled my toes inside of my boots awkwardly as I watched the Council members all look around at each other, and then to Yoda, as if they were all silently agreeing on something. He closed his eyes and nodded once in affirmation to whatever they were asking from their glances. Now I was even more confused than when so first got here.
Finally, Shaak Ti cleared her throat and turned fully in her seat towards me, causing her long montrals to sway. She sat up straight and folded her hands in her lap, "(y/n), do you know why we've called you here today?" She asked curiously.
I rose an eyebrow in confusion, "No, I don't." I answered honestly; Yoda didn't tell me what this meeting was for, so I thought the others would've known that I didn't know anything.
Then as if on cue, Yoda cut in, "Told her, I have not yet."
I blinked a couple of times, and began to feel fresh anxiety bubbling in my chest, "Told me what?" I asked nervously.
