Kinda angst, sad boi Virgil for a bit, fluffy end, high school AU

Virgil fell in love with the most popular guy in school, Roman Prince. Roman Prince was the quarterback of the school's football team, he was the hottest guy in school, a complete romantic. However he didn't know Virgil existed, or so Virgil thought.

Avoiding this disaster, seemed impossible

Virgil watched Roman from across the lunch room.

My heart is beating faster, fast as it can go

Roman caught Virgil's eye. Virgil ducked his head away from the jock.

'Cause I'm overthinking every word, that was never said or heard

Virgil sighed to himself, thinking all the things Roman might say to him.

Happy ever after? I don't think so

Virgil's friend Patton tells him all the time that he has a chance, he doesn't believe it though.

Virgil fell for Roman in 4th grade, Roman didn't know him then and doesn't know him now.

I stare from afar, in my hand broken heart while I play pretend

Virgil acts fine whenever he sees Roman and his girlfriend.

Virgil sighed sadly as Roman's girlfriend kissed his cheek.

Am I invisible? Should I let it go? Would you ever know? Am I just another crazy laying on the low? Am I invisible?

These were the questions that racked Virgil's mind, everyday.

Patton comforted Virgil, knowing how bad it hurt.

Virgil tried to speak with Roman, but whenever he does he's either tongue tied, or someone covered his voice.

All Virgil could ever think of was Roman.

After school Virgil went into the theater room, sitting on the stage, singing,

Virgil sighed quietly (Am I Invisible?) unknowing he was being watched.

Virgil sighed again, "Why did I have to fall the most popular guy in school? He's taken, I'll never have a chance."

"Thats where you're wrong." A voice behind him spoke. Virgil turned around and gasped. Behind him stood the one and only, Roman Prince.

"R-Roman! How much did you hear?" Virgil asks nervously.

"Enough to know you wrote a song about me, or am I mistaken and it's not about me?" Roman asked as he walked over to the smaller boy.

"It's about you." Virgil mumbled, his voice timid and quiet. "I-I'll leave if you want. You're taken and straight." Virgil spoke the second half a little louder.

"Now now, you can't write a song about me, then run off. Plus, I dumped Olivia (The girlfriend) today." Roman told Virgil, who looked up at him.

"R-Really why?" Virgil asked, worried of Roman's answer.

"Simple, I fell in love with someone else." Virgil felt his heart shatter. Roman chuckled, which added salt to the wound. "Don't look so down dear, you're the one I fell for." Virgil looked up at the jock in surprise.

"W-What? Why? How?" Virgil asked, earning an another chuckle.

"Simple, I noticed you from afar, I got your friend Patton to tell me about you, and I knew I fell in love with you, I didn't even have to speak with you." Roman explained.

Virgil nod slowly, "Oh, ok." Roman smiled gently.

"May I hear the whole song you wrote for me? Or will I have to work for that?" Roman quizzed. Virgil giggled,

"Gunna have to work for, Princey." Roman pouted but nodded anyway. "I'll give a line a day. If you can repeat the song back to me, I'll give you something of your choice." Virgil spoke. Roman's eyes lit up.

"If I can repeat the song, I want the honor of becoming your boyfriend." Virgil nodded, Roman smiled before it turned into a frown, "Do I have to use the same notes and tones? Please don't tell me I have to." Virgil giggled once again,

"Just the words Princey." Roman nodded with a bright smile. "I gotta go, cya tomorrow!" Virgil called as he jumped down off the stage and began to walk away.

"Tomorrow Princess." Roman answered after the smaller boy.

And everyday since then, Virgil would give Roman a line to the song, in order, Roman would write it down, and this continued everyday.

Roman explained to his friends what was happening and they got in on it too. Virgil would give them the line sometimes, they would write it down and give it to Roman when the saw him.

On the night of prom, Roman dragged Virgil off to the side and sung the song quietly.

"Am I invisible?" Roman finished. Virgil smiled brightly.

"No you're not." Roman chuckled and spun Virgil around once.

"So did I win or?~" Virgil laughed and nodded, planting a soft kiss on the jock's cheek. Roman smiles brightly and dipped Virgil into a passionate, but gentle kiss.

Once the other prom goers noticed the two, Roman's friends totally didn't yell it out, there was claps and groans mixed together.

But the two were happy.
