Chapter 2
Unedited
Even with no light, the red bloodstain on his shirt stood out, and the fresh black bruises on his eyes and jaws could be seen from inside my car.  His lip was cut, and the blood dripped down.
I could see that he tried to get a few punches in as his knuckles were a dark shade of red.
But at last, he couldn't stand up for himself.
Again a strange possession took over my body as I got out of my car and walked over to his door. He had slid down by the corner, hiding in the dark.
I cautiously walked up the four small steps before kneeling in front of him.
My shadow caused him to whip his head up.
I could see the extent of the damage his face taken. The view from my car didn't do any justice to what I initially saw. It was much worse.
His eyes were burning with rage but his long drenched eyelashes were saying something else.
He didn't yell at me or scream he just looked angry.
But I could tell he didn't want to be. Or at least I think so, at this moment I'm convinced my brain went on vacation. I slowly took my hand out and took his in mine.
What are you doing, Kai? What are you doing?
It was all I could hear in my head. But it didn't stop me.
I stood up and helped him up as well. I slowly walked him over to the passenger side of my car before helping him buckle up. He hadn't said anything yet so I hurried up before realization set in.
I got in as well and left the driveway in seconds, hearing a sign of relief from Billy.
I noticed I didn't live far from Billy. It was a 5-minute drive, so about a 10-15 minute walk.
When I parked in my house's driveway, I saw Mrs. Francisco's old minivan parked outside, letting me know my parents were away on another business trip.
Mrs. Francisco was an older woman who barely had her eyesight. However, my parents insisted she stays with me when they are away.
Knowing I could use the front door, I opened it quietly to find Mrs. Francisco passed out snoring on the living room couch.  I quickly took billy up the stairs then into my room.
He still hadn't said a word to me; maybe he was as shocked as I was by my actions.
I took him inside my bathroom and let him sit at the edge of the tub.
"Wait here." I still said in a whispered tone, afraid If I spoke, I might scare him away, Or break him out his trance.
I went to my parent's room and pulled out my dad's Pjs.  When I came back, Billy hadn't moved an inch.
I sat the fresh clothes down and took out my first aid kit. I drenched a cotton pad with peroxide and went up to him. He was almost the same height as me sitting, so his face wasn't hard to reach for once.
I placed the pad on his cheek the one I hit not so long ago, and he grabbed my wrist. Shocked by his sudden action, I gasped.
"Sorry," he mumbled before letting me go. I blinked several time to ensure I wasn't going crazy.
"No, I am; I didn't give you a warning."
I cleared my throat it felt like I drank a glass of sand. "I'm going back in," I said before slightly dabbing his wounds.
When I was done, I had but a total of 4 bandaids on his face and cream for bruising on 11.
"Here," I said, handing him the clothes. "You can take a shower, the left knob is hot, and the right is cold."
