A/N ~ Don't hate me; this is a part of the plotline ❤️

Friday was finally here, and it felt like a blessing to finally put this week behind me.
Classes dragged on, and Billy ignored me as usual. Steve kept me company during Gym, so I didn't have to watch my boyfriend flirt with another girl. Wow, the whole situation was just so weird.

By the last period, news had broken out that Billy Hargrove had gotten in a fight and suspended. For the next week, Nancy gave me a sympathetic smile and a tight hug before we parted ways after school.

I couldn't wrap my head around what was happening and why he acted out. More importantly, why wouldn't he talk to me.

I took the next right on the intersection and started to head for the Hargrove residence, someone had to be mature here, and it was definitely not going to be him.

When I pulled into his driveway, his car wasn't there. Max, however, was on the back of Lucas's bike as they pulled in next to me.

"Kai!" Max greeted me as she hopped off his bike and hugged me. "Hey Max, hey Lucas." I smiled and waved at the young boy who had started to back out the driveway.

"Hi kai, and max, I will see you later." He waved before disappearing down the corner.

"Do you know where your brother might be?" I asked Max, and she shrugged; she frowned before crossing her arms "is it true? Did he get suspended?" When I didn't say anything, max sighed "of course he did; Neil won't be happy." I snapped my head towards the red-haired girl. "You won't tell him, right?" I asked, and she shook her head quickly. "No way! It's just Neil probably already got the call from the school." I closed my eye tight and leaned by on my car.

I can't imagine what he will do. "I hate this," I mumbled, and Max held my hand.

"I don't know exactly what happened, but when he came home after the weekend, him and Neil-"

Before she could get her sentence out, a huge truck pulled in the driveway, and max quickly let go of my hand.

"You should go." Her blue eyes were wide, and she put her body in front of mine, almost as if she was protecting me.

"Max?" My voice came out as an odd whisper

"Maxine, what are you doing out here?" A deep manly voice broke out as a tall and large man walked from the other side of the car; one look at his face, and I could tell it was none other than Neil.

"Nothing, just got home." Max forced a smile, his eyes found me, and he frowned as if he was trying to figure out who I was.

"Oh, she gave me a ride, forgot my skateboard." Max laughed nervously, nudging me to leave.

"Well, thank you." He smiled; it was almost strikingly similar to Billy's. "Sure thing." I opened my car door and quickly slipped inside.

Without another word, I pulled out his driveway, the entire time his horrifying eyes on me. When I turned the corner, I sighed with relief, leaning back in my seat.

To my surprise, when I got home, I saw a familiar blue Camaro parked in my driveway; leaning on it was particular blonde smoking.

I got down from the car and rushed over to him. "Billy? What are you doing here?" I asked as I threw my bag over my shoulder. "Can't a guy visit his girlfriend?" His voice was smug, and he had this look on his face that was unrecognizable.

"Not when he's been nothing but a jerk for the past week." He rolled his eyes, taking a drag of his cigarette.

"Whatever, look, you need to tell me what's going on." Yet again, he said nothing; instead, he smoked like I wasn't even standing there.
