Chapter 19
Unedited

"Come on, let me try," I begged Billy as we drove back to Hawkins.

"No, Kai." Billy's soft laugh resonated through the car, the sound of the radio on low in the background was barely heard as Billy, and I bantered.

"You smoke all the time. I want to see what the big deal is." I folded my arms, my feet on the dashboard, and my chair leaned back slightly. It's how I preferred to ride in his car.

"You're not smoking, Nadir." Billy Tapped the cigarette with his index finger, his hand out the window. "You can't even handle the smell to the point where I can't smoke in my car anymore, and now you want to smoke." he playfully rolled his eyes at me.

"I can!" I protested. I don't know why I was stubborn. I knew I didn't want to smoke. I think it's because I'm planning to twist this into a lecture about why he shouldn't smoke.

"No, Nadir, and I better not ever catch you even looking at a pack of cigarettes." I liked seeing Billy this protective maybe there is something wrong with me.

"But other girls smoke, girls you hang out with." Billy dropped his cigarette on the road somewhere and looked over at me."

"I don't care what some other girl does, and I care about what mine does." A deep blush crawled to my cheeks, and I instantly felt my ear heat up. I liked the way that sounded "mine!" I screamed in my head, but on the outside, all I said was.

"Good to know." I pulled my hair out of the bun and let my hair cover my rose red ears.

When I got to school Monday morning, Nancy had a thousand and one questions; we also decided to let Jonathan in on the loop, so he had his questions; he disagreed with my decision but supported me anyway.

When lunch rolled around, I sat with Nancy and John while enjoying my chips and soda in peace; what a nutritional lunch.

I noticed that Billy wasn't with his usual crowd; he wasn't with them because he wasn't here at all.

It's went on like this for a few days, and when I called him, he didn't answer.

When I got home Wednesday, I decided to call billy one last time, but he didn't pick up.

I started to get worried, and the only thing running through my mind was the memory of him knocked out covered in blood on his living room floor.
I got up and ran down the stairs and into my car before driving to the Hargrove residence.

I hadn't seen max for a while either, and when I asked Dustin about it, he had no idea.

I went up to the door, my heart racing fast. I knocked a few times, and there was nothing.
There was no music either. "Billy!" I knocked louder.

Should I start panicking? How about if his dad did something terrible because he took me away for the weekend.
"Billy!" I started pounding on the door, and after what seemed like the hundredth time, the door pulled open.

"Geez, woman."  I hugged him immediately when I noticed his face was unscratched.

"What's up?" He asked, lightly pushing me away. "you weren't in school, you haven't picked up my calls, you went MIA." I said, looking up at him.

"So you knock on my door like a manic?" He asked as he put one of his hands on the door frame.

"I was worried as the last time you were half dead on your living room floor." I crossed my hands over my chest.
