Chapter 3
Unedited

After a few more hours, I was done and offered to drive Will back to school.

"Hey, look, I know I said this before, but I'm sorry," I said, and he looked toward me while I kept my eyes on the road.

"You didn't know."

"I know, but Will, I've looked around. I should have waited.

"And what would you have waited for Kai? Don't blame yourself." I looked at him briefly before looking back.

When we arrived at Hawkins Middle school, Will looked back. "Thanks for not treating me differently."

"Same." was all I said before he closed the door.

It was the end of 4th period when I got to school, so I decided to stay in my car until lunchtime.

When lunchtime did roll around after 10 minutes, I saw Nacy and Johnathan walk out to the parking lot.

I waved at them, signaling them to come over.

"Hey, how was it?" John asked, "creepy."

"Again I'm sorry-" Nancy began to say
"Nancy Wheeler, do not say what you're about to say." I put my hand up to her face.

She grabbed my hand and put it down.

"It's my fault you even have to go to those appointments. " she looked down.

"Hey, it wasn't your fault; I agreed to go with you to Harrington's"party."

"Who knows, I was going to get pulled into the upside down." I tried to laugh it out but Nancy wasn't buying it.

"If it weren't for me, barb would be alive."

"Nancy don't," John said.

"You weren't in there with her, Nancy, so you don't know, I was lucky I survived, but a big part of that is owed to Barb.

"And one of the last things she told me was to not blame ourselves for what happened."

"I feel like an idiot because her parents are still looking for her."

I pulled her into a hug, and Johnathan huged me from the back, wrapping his arms around Nancy and me.

"Oh God, we look like dorks." I laughed, sniffling my tears back.

"Yeah, we do." John quickly stopped hugging us, and Nancy whipped her eyes.

"Hey Johnathan, that reminds me. Can I have your little brother?"

"No, he is mine." John smiled "well maybe I don't what are you willing to offer?"

"Not fair I don't have any younger siblings, maybe like 5 bucks."

"You can have mines for free." Nancy said, annoyed We laughed feeling a little light-hearted. As we talked and ate, my eyes locked with a pair of blue ones across the parking lot.

He had his arms around a redhead and was smoking, but his eyes kept burning holes ay the side of my head.

next period was gym, which I dreaded since I wasn't the most athletic person ever.

I usually just sat around listening to music or reading; today, I decided to finish the novel assigned to us by our reading teacher.

The coach usually told us to run laps or play Basketball or softball, maybe dodge ball if it was a slow day.

Since the weather didn't look so lovely today, we decided to stay inside the gym.

The guys played basketball while coach made us girls sit around and watch them since "basketball is a contact sport too rough for girls." I really couldn't care less.
