The Call

All of the anxiety of yesterday came flooding back to F/N, her peaceful night with Akechi was almost enough to completely wash out everything that had happened from her mind, only for this phone call to snap her back from her blissful dream world.

She looked over to Akechi, who still had an arm wrapped around her shoulder as he eyed her phone curiously. Taking note of the down trodden look on his face, she clicked on the speaker button of her phone so that he could hear everything that was going to be discussed. She knew trying to hide anything from him would be a fruitless effort, since he was a detective and all.

"Please continue, doctor," F/N asked, before looking back Akechi who had seemed to have caught up with the situation quickly, as his grip on F/N tightened slightly. His gaze was glued to the faceless icon of the caller on the phone, intent on hearing the results that he so desperately wanted to hear for the better half of a day.

On the other side of the phone, the doctor sighed frustratedly as she mulled over how to put the data into words. Pages being turned could be heard through the receiver in an attempt to sound busy, but in reality it was just to save face.

"Well," she started, the sounds of papers being shuffled coming to a halt. "According to all the tests I performed yesterday, there's nothing wrong with you," the doctor stated defeatedly yet bluntly. If this was a video call, Takemi would be scratching her head at this unexpected outcome.

It was certainly one that F/N didn't want to hear, especially as it was hindering her daily life. Who knew when she was going to get the next dizzy spell -or even collapse from some kind of overload-. All she could muster up in response was "I see..."

Though the man sitting next to her stirred at this news, he'd seen all these separate incidents with his own two eyes. How his lover didn't even recognise him on the day they planned to meet up, and how she subsequently fainted on him just as they were preparing to start their date. He pulled F/N into him more, in a manner of wanting to protect her from the world that seemingly wanted her to hurt and suffer, just like-

Just like...

"But you know that can't be right!" Akechi exclaimed quite loudly, as the previous ambient noises residing from the kitchen stopped abruptly. He didn't notice however as his mind was too preoccupied on the health of the one he cherished the most out of any person he'd ever met in his life. "You saw her, didn't you? She was completely unconscious when we brought her to you!" His heart was burning after remembering the distraught of the situation, how F/N's face looked as she collapsed into his arms. These thoughts twirling around in his mind made his body work all on its own, as it pulled F/N ever closer to him and rubbed her arm gently, as if he was reliving that moment again in present time.

Takemi sighed again through the receiver of her phone, "I know Akechi-san, that's what I'm trying to figure out myself." The sound of papers and typing picked up again in the background, as Takemi decided to double check the results of all the exams she had performed the day prior. "Every possible cause that I could think of, came back as negative. There's nothing wrong with L/N-san's brain, nor anything else that could cause this to happen.

F/N looked up at Akechi once more, his brow was furrowed tightly, his teeth were gritted and his eyes were forced shut. It was far from the mood that he was in when he woke up, far from the mood that she wanted him to be in. She hated how much trouble she had caused for the young man so far, after all the kindness and love he'd shown her in just a few short hours/ It still made her gut twist and turn about the fact that she still couldn't remember much about him either, as she knew they must have had a solid relationship before her memories decided to pack the bags and leave.

The situation seemed to be getting too much for her to handle as she could feel her tear ducts swelling up. She tried her best to hold them back, but doing so made her feel as if she was choking on her own breath. Her shoulders started to shake as the tears had forced their way out of their hiding place and trickled down her face, much like a burst dam that had been patiently trying its time, getting ready to flood the village that sat below it.
