The taxi ride was an easy one, the driver not saying a word (apart from greetings) to either Akechi or F/N. He appeared to be a stereotypical westerner, blonde hair and blue eyes, but also very tall. He had greeted the two with a very distinct accent as they entered, though it wasn't American, to Akechi, it seemed like an accent from around Scandinavia.

F/N was perfectly content on watching buildings and people pass by through the window, her eyes following along with any random thing she could see: a fancy car, a café with an elderly man sitting outside, a mother watching her son excitedly pointing at a new toy laser gun in the window. The simple things. But she would also occasionally look back over at Akechi, though he seemed to be on a call with someone.

The silence in the car had given Akechi the perfect time to catch up on the details of his plan through a planned phone call. "Thank you again for paying for our taxi, Akira." He gave a quick smile to F/N before continuing with the small talk "I can't believe I'm saying this, but I truly owe you."

Akira's laugh could be heard faintly from the phone, he seemed to be enjoying Akechi's misery. "You can pay me back by making our café your regular date spot." He could almost hear Akira smirking down the phone at such a statement. He hated being in debt to people, much less Akira. He knew that he would make his life all the more embarrassing until the debt was paid off in full.

Well, not that there was much debt in Akira's eyes, he just liked to be a tease to see how far he could push things.

"In your dreams," Akechi snorted back, a slight laugh in his voice. "LeBlanc is nice and quiet, but we have to broaden our horizons sometimes." He could feel a smirk spreading across his face upon hearing Akira's defeated sigh. He wasn't one to let Akira get away with his teasing without a fight after all.

"Yeah, yeah, okay..." Akira sighed; the muffled sound of liquid pouring could be heard in the background which was shortly followed by a clink. "How is she? Has she noticed anything?" His tone seemed more hushed now, as if he was very aware of the situation at hand.

"No. not yet, at least," he seemed to lower his voice on the last part of his sentence, masking his words as if he was being asked about the whereabout of their location. "How's Futaba-chan? I hope she's not disappointed we had to cut our visit short?"

A cackle of the calibre only gremlins could dare to dream of was soon heard in the not so far distance, it sounded so near he could have sworn it came from just behind his shoulder. "Nyehehe. All good on my front." He heard the girl typing furiously on her laptop before another smug chuckle left her mouth. "We're ready to roll."

Tap tap.

Then another cackle.

"Good luck to the both of you." Akira spoke up, seemingly noticing that the phone signal is getting closer to Maruki's location.

Akechi took a quick glimpse out of the window; these streets looked a lot different during the day without the glare of the bright lights of the city. Though there were some things that looked similar, like the small ramen bars and combinis lining the streets, but also the lack of footfall indicated that they were close by too.

He then looked back to F/N, who was still staring out of the window like a fascinated child.

At least she looked happy.

"Thank you once again," he smiled with a quick glance at his phone. He really did owe a lot to Akira and Futaba for helping with this investigation that popped up out of the blue. "I'll let you know if there's improvement later."

With that, he ended the call, placing his phone back into his coat pocket before turning to F/N once more. It didn't take her long to notice him, and so she turned to face him with a soft smile.
