The amount of eyes staring daggers at F/N as she walked, hand in hand with Akechi, was staggering. 'Thank god he's wearing gloves' she sighed to herself, feeling how clammy her hands were becoming from all the attention.
Though it didn't go unnoticed.
"If it's too much for you today, we could take a less public route?" Akechi suggested, his eyebrows slightly furrowed at F/N's current state.and his grip tightening around her hand
Before she could reply, chatter from some nearby teenage girls, all dolled up in outfits fresh out of the store in Harajuku, cut off her train of thought.
"Ew, is that really Akechi-kun's girlfriend? You're, like, totally cuter than her Sachiko!" one girl exclaimed.
"Ahaha! I know right!? Maybe if I ask Akechi-kun out, he'll totally dump her for me," another laughed.
"OMG, Go for it Sachiko! If she can get Akechi, I bet you totally can." The girls all started giggling menacingly as they shot dirty looks at F/N. Though their voices faded away as Akechi turned into a back alley, away from the public eye. His gaze was fixed downward, a dark glint in his eyes, pondering over his own thoughts.
The alley was far from the main street they were previously on, very few people seemed to pass through the area. Though one person did pass by that happened to catch F/N's eye. A man wearing a jacket that covered most of the lower half of his face along with a flat cap that covered the top half, it was almost as if he was the human embodiement of the word incognito. As he walked by F/N, she could've sworn she saw a smirk flash over the strange man's face.
'Why is there so much attention on me today, this... isn't right.' her mind taking control of her once again. She couldn't help but also think back to the girls from earlier, their snide remarks about her and the boy currently holding her hand, pulling her along like a ragdoll on a rope.
Her thoughts then went to Akechi, what she knew about him from all the things she could piece together from interactions that day. She knew he had to be a famous or popular figure in this area, otherwise the interactions from earlier: her colleagues freaking out about her 'date' later; or those fangirls from earlier; would make no sense at all!
Wanting to get the answers straight from the horses mouth, F/N finally spoke up.
"You're quite a... popular guy, Goro," F/N questioned. "I thought Idols weren't supposed to have relationships in public, ahaha...". Her gaze turned downwards, hand going limp in Akechi's hand which subsequently slipped back to her side. Causing Akechi to stop in his tracks, F/N softly bumping into him due to the sudden halt.
Turning on his heel, he placed both of his hands gently on F/N's shoulders, his eyes locked directly, without falter, with F/N's. "F/N, you know I'm a Detective and not an Idol," he sighed, "You haven't been right all day, did something happen?" his voice was filled with concern.
F/N gaze wandered downward towards her fidgiting hands. Her throat suddenly dry. Was it fear? Was it shock? She couldn't tell. Her heart felt like it was tearing itself apart, all over a man she barely knew at all. Before she could even react, her hands were taken into the soft gloved ones of the man standing before her.
"Please. Tell me what's wrong F/N," Akechi whispered, his eyes softening at the girl, beckoning her to spill her heart out.
His soft voice was oddly calming to her, how could she forget somebody like him? Her eyes wandered back up to meet his, though she wished she hadn't as a sudden twinge of pain shot through her heart. His eyes softened when they made contact, a reassuring smile spread across his face as if to say 'You can tell me anything, I won't hurt you'.
All this made her disheartningly sigh at what had to be said. She couldn't hide it from him forever.
"I don't remember who you are, Goro..."
Her head instantly shot down to look at her feet, not wanting to look Akechi in the eye. With her eyes tightly closed, her mind began to wander 'God, he's going to think I'm lying for attention! He probably thinks I'm just saying this so he doesn't leave me for one of those girls from earlier. Argh why did I even bother!', her teeth clenched at all the thoughts she was currently running through, though none of them could ever predict what Akechi would actually do.
Instead of Akechi making accusations against her, his grip tightened around her hands, his brow creasing before suddenly releasing in seeming relief. "I thought as much," he sighed, looking down at the hands he was currently craddling, his thumbs subconciously caressing her palms softly. "We need to get you checked out, I want to make sure it's nothing serious."
F/N's eyes drifted up to meet Akechi's again, though his gaze was slightly downcast, seemingly stuck in his own thoughts. "You're a good guy, I can tell that much," F/N smiled, squeezing his hand reassuringly, causing his lips to turn ever so slightly upwards.
"Akira told me about a small practitioner, whom he trusts well, nearby. We can have the date another time, I just want to make sure you're okay," he stated, his grip tightening around F/N's hands. His eyes awash with concern.
F/N smiled at him, giving a slight squeeze on his hands. "I'd like that, I wish to know what's going on too," she smiled, though it was short lived as internally her thoughts wandered to this 'Akira'. She couldn't recall ever meeting an 'Akira', nor what they looked like. Shaking her head, brushing the thought to one side, in the silent hope that this doctor could help figure out what was going on.
"Alright then," Akechi exclaimed, letting go of one of F/N's hands, beckoning her to walk by his side instead of behind him this time. "Also, about those girls from earlier." He leaned closer to F/N, enough so she could feel the warmth radiating from his body. "Nothing could ever convince me to leave you, not after everything you've done for me over the last year," he spoke with a sweet smile spread across his face.
F/N could feel her cheeks tingle at his exclamation a grin forming on her face. 'Take that, flashy girls,' she internally hummed, if she was on her own, she'd probably be sticking her tongue out in the most childish manner and singing some happy tune exclaiming victory.
On the other hand, she was on her way to see a doctor, her mind couldn't help but rush through every single worst case scenario it could think of. 'Oh god, what if it's something serious!? What's going to happen to me?' her free hand instantly shot up to start picking at some dry skin on her lips, an awful habit of hers in these sorts of situations. oh how it made her wish she applied some lip balm this morning.
Noticing this behaviour, Akechi softly squeezed her hand. "It'll be fine, I'm here." His free hand slowly catching F/N's fidgeting hand and pulling it away from her face, as to not cause anymore harm. "It's the least I can do for you, F/N."
F/N looked onward, overwhelmed by the tingling in her chest that Akechi had caused. 'I sincerly hope this doctor can figure out what's happened... I want to remember my time with Goro,' humming in her thoughts. Her grip lightly tightened around his hand, causing him to squeeze back slightly in an unspoken manner of comfort.
