(Deva and his friends are sitting on the front bench in front of their school.)
Deva: Okay guys so I'm done joking. Anyways I met a cute girl in your class.
Issei: Which one?
Deva: I think her name is Maxine. She was a skinny chick with a perfect spinner bod.
Obe: Wait what, you talked to Maxine?
Deva: Yea man. She just came out of the classroom and I was right behind her. So I walked up close to her and positioned myself to the side a bit to give her some space and then I talked to her.
Obe: Bro, why would you even run up behind her? Wouldn't you just scare her off?
Deva: It's how you do it dawg. For example, if you walk up directly behind her, as in your entire body is directly behind her, then yeah that's going to freak her out. I know some books that suggest you try to run up to her and position yourself right in front of her so you're technically talking to her from the front, yet even that's a shock factor in and of itself. You can still talk to her while you're behind her. Just position yourself more to the side and have some space between you and her so she doesn't feel as threatened when she's talking to you.
Ned: Isn't it easier to just talk to her while she's walking towards you? I find it easier to do than just talking to girls from behind.
Deva: Yeah you can do that. I've had a couple of experiences where I've approached girls while they're walking towards me. You do have to stop them a bit but if they're open to having a conversation with you then they'll stop. Otherwise, if they don't, you just let them go and find other women who are more willing to talk.
Ned: It sounds like you know some of your stuff, man. How come you haven't gotten laid yet?
Deva: I don't know man. I feel like I'm in this weird territory, where I know what I'm doing but at the same time, I don't. I mean I'm pretty good when it comes to approaching and getting numbers, but I have the most problems with setting up dates and dating itself.
Issei: I don't get it. You say you approach a lot, so shouldn't you be getting more dates? What gives? You should be a ladies' man already, right?
Deva: What you mean by that, dawg?
Issei: Everyone knows that a man who's great with women can have any woman he wants. So if you're truly good with this stuff, then you should be getting laid with every woman you try talking to.
Deva: That's what I initially thought too, but it doesn't work like that dawg. Being able to get any woman you want doesn't always equate to getting every woman you want. Some women just aren't gonna want you, so you're gonna be facing some rejections here and there.
Issei: What?! Then what the hell's the point of reading all these books, following all the steps if you can't get every woman you want?
Deva: Because it's mostly about maintaining the attraction of a woman who's already attracted to you. Like look dude, I could do all the rights steps and execute them without any mistakes and I'd still get rejected. You take a look at any dude, even some of the players out there, even they get rejected. And believe me, man, you get rejected more times than and get dates here and there.
Ned: I think that makes sense.
Deva: And if there's one thing I can add to this is that you can and will get rejected anytime anywhere. You go up to a girl and try to say hi to her, you get rejected. Even if she talks to you and you have a conversation with her, you get rejected. After a great conversation with her and you try to go for her number, you get rejected. Hell, even after you get her number, if she's not texting you back, you get rejected. If she's texting you back but suddenly stops and you don't hear from her ever again, you get rejected. Hell even if everything seems to be going well and you try to ask her out on a date, you get rejected.
