(A couple of months have just passed, and prom night is near approaching. Deva, Beck, and Chucky are hanging out at the track seats with each other talking about prom.)
Beck: You are going to get me one of those flower bracelets, right Chucklebunny?
Chucky: It's a corsage, and I thought you weren't into feminine things.
Beck: Come on, it would be exciting. You've seen me dress up here and there.
Chucky: Yeah but you normally dress up as one of those female wrestlers.
Beck: Come on, you know you love it when I'm wearing it.
Deva: What kind of fantasy were you two enacting?
Beck: I would dress up and pretend to wrestle with Chuck here. Normally, I would be the one riding on him, but Chucklebunny here has some fire of his own. He decides to flip me over and take me from behind.
Deva: No way! (Turns to Chucky) You took charge man?!
Chucky: Yeah I did!
Deva: Damn Beck, you trying to make him your dream man.
Beck: He's already my dream man. He'll be a much better one. (Turns to Chucky) Commere you. (She hugs Chucky and kissed him.)
Deva: You know what, I don't care what votes gotta say in prom. You two will be prom king and queen to me.
Beck: Aww, you're so sweet Dev. Do you have a date?
Deva: Nah. My position in this school still hasn't changed, so I'm not expecting anything major out of prom for me.
Beck: Then why don't I find someone in this school for ya. I'm sure there are some girls here that would want to go out with you.
Deva: Even if you did find one, I think I'm going to take a break from the whole dating thing. I had a fun ride and developed some cool stories to tell from that as well. But after everything that went down with Elli, I'll just ride the entire term out before I head to university.
Beck: Yeah I hear ya. It still sucks she never got back to you.
Deva: I've said what I've said to her. If she's not sending me any text, guess that means she's not interested in me. That's not really something I can do about it. It's okay for me though, it means I get some peace from it too.
Beck: And you said she expected you to read signs?
Deva: Yeah she did. Honestly, I had no problem reading these signs, and anything remotely positive I got, I assumed interest and made a move, even when I was hella wrong multiple times. But you know what, I kept going if it meant I'll clear the air with the women I like. But with her, I've been doing it for so long, and she kept giving me vague answers. At some point, I got tired of it and stopped cuz I just don't know where I stood with her anymore. And you know something, maybe I could learn to read more of these subtle signs, but it'll be a lot easier if she communicates how she feels. I have no problem communicating my intentions, why can't she do the same?
Beck: Yeah man.
Chucky: You've always been strong on the inside Dev. And you didn't get yourself in any more drama like some of the guys here do.
Beck: Yeah man, as far as your social skills and judgment goes, you really have come a long way.
Deva: That makes me feel good knowing I've made some progress. Anyways, I'm gonna head on home, you guys enjoy the rest of the day.
Beck: Aight man, take care.
