Deva: Living Outside The Ladder (Complete Story)

Act 8 Scene 5

(Deva goes out to buy some alcohol with a fake getup and a fake ID)

Cashier: Can I see your ID sir?

(Takes out ID and gives it to him. He verifies the information and gives it back. He puts the beer bottles in the bag and gives them to Deva.)

Cashier: Have a great day sir!

(Deva goes home and drinks to his liver's content. Then promptly passes out. The scene switches to Deva's friends)

Obe: Hey guys. Have you seen Dev? He hasn't been with us for like four days now. It's not like him.

Issei: I bet he's at the science center working on his nerdy gadgets or some shit.

Obe: Even if that's the case, he would let us know before doing so. It's not like him to just keep us out of the loop.

Ned: I think Obe is onto something. We should go visit him.

(All three of them decide to visit Deva's house. The scene switches to outside of Deva's house. Issei knocks on the door. They end up waiting a longer time than usual. Issei knocks again. Again, they're waiting for a longer time as usual. Deva comes down to open the door.)

Deva: Hey guys, what's up?

Issei: Hey man, you don't look too good. Are you okay?

Deva: Yeah I'm good.

Ned: We haven't seen you around mate. We were beginning to get worried.

Deva: Oh that. Yeah I've just been working on some stuff overnight and I've been losing out on some sleep, so I usually come home to get some sleep now. But you guys can come in if you want. We can play some games, watch a movie, I don't know.

Obe: Fuck it, we hadn't chilled like this in a while. Let's do it, boys.

(They all come inside)

Ned: Fucking L man. You got booze with you?

Deva: Yeah I have some whenever I feel like letting loose here and there.

Issei: We'll let's get drunk then. Hey, I also have another idea as well.

Deva: I've had enough for a while guys, you can share it amongst yourselves.

Ned: Alright, if you say so mate.

(They all had fun drinking, watching movies, playing video games, cracking jokes. It was a good time. All four of them are in front of Deva's home.)

Issei: Man I hadn't had this much fun in ages.

Obe: See ya later Dev!

(Deva looks down and finds a flyer. It's a science convention event that's going down. He later goes up to his room and lies in bed like he usually does. )

(Deva decides to take a walk outside without much aim to where he's going in the night. There he sees an empty park bench and decides to sit down and stare at the empty playground. He hears footsteps coming from his left side. He notices what appears to be a female covered in a grey hood and wearing a school uniform skirt. Deva then breaks eye contact with her. She decided to sit down at the same bench Deva is sitting on. He notices and is taken aback by her recent action, but still maintained to keep his eye contact away from her. There was some silence between the two, but the girl broke the silence.)

Girl: The sky looks very beautiful. I can't remember the last time I've seen this many stars in the sky. (turns to Deva, smiling.)

Deva: (Looks up at the sky) Yeah, you're right. It does seem like it has a lot more than what I'm used to seeing.
