Deva: Living Outside The Ladder (Complete Story)

Act 5-6 Scene 6

(As Deva walks through the school hallways, he's noticed a lot of people paying more attention to him than usual. He spots Chucky and Beck looking at their phones and walks up to them.)

Deva: Yo, what's up? Why is everyone looking at me?

Beck: Did something happen between you and Shawn and Asuka?

Deva: What makes you say that? (Beck shows Deva the phone. There is a picture of Deva with a distraught expression while looking at Shawn and Asuka making out. The title is on the top of the pic labelled 'the creepy cuck'. Deva's anger grows.) So that's it, huh.

Beck: What happened?

Deva: I'll tell you the details later, right now, take a screenshot of that and send it to me, I gotta take care of something. (Deva walks off. While he was walking, he noticed Elli looking at her phone and looking at him. However, she didn't laugh at him as the rest of the school did. Instead, she went back to looking at her phone. As he continued to walk, Cecelia gets in his way.)

Cecelia: Did you like the photo I sent? Good job. You're now famous for being a pathetic loser. (Deva just stares at Cecelia, and then just walks past her.)

(Deva shows up at the principal's office.)

Principal: Ah, Deva. How are you doing today?

Deva: I'm doing good.

Principal: Your face tells me something is bothering you. Does it have to do with that embarrassing picture going on about you?

Deva: Yeah.

Principal: Do you want to talk about it?

Deva: I know who took the picture.

Principal: You do? (Deva nods) Who?

Deva: Cecelia Lockhart.

Principal: Cecelia? Are you absolutely sure?

Deva: Yeah I am. I got something that you might want to take a look at. (Deva takes out his recording and the screenshot and shows it to the principal. He then goes to his microphone.)

Principal: Cecelia Lockhart, please come to the principal's office, Cecelia Lockhart, please come to the principal's office.

(Cecelia and Deva come out of the school office.)

Cecelia: You little turd! Do you think I'm gonna let you get away with that? Huh?

Deva: Well, for now, I don't gotta worry about you since you're not supposed to be on school grounds for 3 weeks.

Cecelia: You're a fucking teacher's pet snitch. I'm gonna make sure everyone at this entire school knows about it.

Principal: (opens the door.) Do we have a problem?

Cecelia: (smiles) No problem here at all. (Deva uses this time to walk away fast.)

(Deva walks outside of school and finds a table bench to sit on. He hears crying noises, not realizing he's sitting at someone's table. He looks back and he sees Wendy, Betsy, Tori, and Marcus at the table. He immediately gets up away from the table.)

Deva: Sorry, I didn't see you guys there. (Deva was about to leave.)

Wendy: No! It's okay. Come, sit. You're one of the few people who can understand me. (Deva sits down at the table.)

Marcus: (turns to Deva.) How do you feel? You know, with that picture going around?

Deva: Normally, that by itself wouldn't affect me. But given Cecelia just tried fucking with my love life recently, I decided to use that to snitch on her. After me, she got a 3-week suspension.
