It was now two weeks ago that you arrived in the Glade and today was your first day off. It wasn't like no one offered you a break, quite the reverse! Newt, Minho, Hank, Leo, Jeff and even Clint insisted that you take a break, but you always declined. You liked working as a Med-jack and through your job you got to know the Gladers pretty fast. Most of them were really friendly, some rather shy and quiet like Leo, others rather loud and extroverted like Hank. But then there were people like Gally, who still seemed to dislike you.

As for Minho and Newt, you got really attached to them. They were the first people in the Glade you've talked to and always there to cheer you up. Occasionally you felt flattered by their comments or jokes, which mostly were made by Minho. You didn't know why your cheeks always heat up like you just ran a marathon. It felt like all the emotions and blood in your body were trying to burn through your cheeks and break free - you could say your face was on fire. Still, you didn't think much of it... it's totally normal, right?

Moreover you began to see the Glade as your home. Your heart has longed for a real home and you could even say that you've felt homesick in the first week, but it got better. Where even was your home? Where do you even belong? The Glade was the only thing which gave you something to hold on and something which stays, so you tried to accept your fate and surrender your thoughts. Even though you made progress, you had that funny feeling in your chest and head. It felt like your memories were locked up in a casket in your head and you've lost the key.

Each time you try to remember, you always end up having a terrible migraine. The memories were so present, yet so far away. You longed for it. Your heart longed for the memory of where you belong, how you got here and who you were. Newt always told you that these feelings were completely normal and all of your friends always tried their best helping you to get to know yourself. Thanks to their help you were no longer a stranger to yourself as in the first week, but there were still so many things you wanted to know. But for today, everyone has told you to rest.

Minho and Hank were the ones running in the Glade today and Leo worked in the gardens. You promised him to help him with his work after lunch. He first rejected, but you offered him your help for so long until he agreed.

For now it was only a few hours after breakfast and after you've got bored walking the same routes in the Glade, so you climbed up the watchtower. You loved sitting on the high construction and watching the other Gladers while the wind blows through your hair. It felt like a freedom which only belonged to you.

Sitting on the watchtower was like a little escape from the Glade - a little escape from reality. Here you had time to think, time for yourself and of course privacy. Most of the boys got used to having a girl in the Glade, but it seemed like some still had problems to comprehend the situation. Due to that you didn't get as much attention as you used to, so you no longer felt like an animal in the zoo. Jeff still said that more boys were coming to the Med-jack hut, but it didn't bother you any longer.

Suddenly you heard someone climbing up the ladder of the watchtower, which interrupted your train of thoughts. You turned your head to the ladder and saw a boy with dirty blond hair arriving at the platform you were sitting on. His dark brown eyes seemed to smile as soon as he saw you and it instantly gave you comfort, his brown eyes held so much warmth and love in them. The boy now also smiled with his lips and sat down right beside you. He wore his usual outfit and some strands of his hair landed in his eyes, which caused him to let his fingers run through his locks in order to get the hair out of his eyes.

"Hi Newt" you greeted him as he had sat down. "Hey Y/n, enjoying your day off so far?" he turned to you and crossed his legs. You instinctively did the same; "Yes I do, but I'm a little restless... I really need to ask Hank how he's just so relaxed all the time" you slightly chuckled and the boy next to you did the same. His laughs were always genuine, you couldn't think of one time he faked a laugh or an emotion.
