I have another song which I dedicated to this chapter. I've put it at the scene I imagined to it, so if you want, you can also listen to it while reading :)

Today was the day. Today you would leave the Glade, enter the maze and hopefully escape. Now that you had the chance and a plan to escape, you didn't want to spend another minute in the Glade. You didn't know what to expect behind the tall walls and you knew not everything can turn out as you wanted it to, but there still must be some compromise between perfect and this. Gally had taken over and it seemed that everyone, except you and your friends, obeyed him without thinking twice. So it didn't matter anymore if you stayed or tried to escape, both included the chance of dying.

You stood next to Hank as you watched two Gladers throwing Thomas's lifeless body to the ground. Two more Gladers were about to tie Teresa to one of the two poles in front of the east door of the Glade. They were preparing the banishment. "Gally has gone insane." you heard your best friend next to you mumble and you nodded in silence. More and more Gladers gathered around the exit of the east door and watched. However, nobody seemed to be happy about Gally's decision, everyone seemed to be tense.

"This is such a waste" Gally finally spoke up, his voice was filled with regret, however it didn't seem genuine. "Gally" Winston called his name and the new 'leader' turned around to look at him, "This doesn't feel right man". Gally tilted his head and the annoyance was written into his face. "What if Thomas is right?" Frypan now came to Winstons side "Maybe he can lead us home". "We are home." Gally stated in a stern voice "okay?"

his voice didn't allow you to doubt his authority. "I don't want to have to cross out any more names of that wall" he explained as he indicated at the name wall. Surprisingly you believed him, he might be radical, but he was speaking the truth about not wanting to lose any more of his brothers.

"You really think banishing us will solve anything?" Teresa asked him, while being held tight by a Glader named Dan. Her hair was disheveled and her pretty face was covered in dirt, but somehow she didn't lose any of her elegance and you could still see that look of determination in her blue eyes, she has and will not give in. "No." Gally answered while looking straight at her "This isn't a banishing.", you held your breath and could feel Hank tense up beside you "It's an offering." you whispered at the same time as Gally said it out loud.

The look of determination vanished from Teresa's eyes and was replaced by panic "Wait- Gally! What are you doing?!" she questioned as Dan tied her to the pole, her voice was filled with fear and maybe you would be scared right now, if you and your friends wouldn't have a plan. "Do you really think I'm gonna let Thomas back into the maze after what he's done?" Gally replied with a question, he was nearly shouting "Look around you" he said to the other boys and turned around "Look at our Glade! This is the only way." Gally claimed.
