Last night Minho had escorted you back to the Homestead, the whole time neither of you had said a word. But it wasn't awkward, it was rather pleasant to be in each other's company without disturbing the moment through mindless words. Nevertheless, you sometimes were confused about how Minho truly feels and what his intentions were. He acted so hot and cold all at the same time. On some days he would get so worked up because Dave talked to you, on other days he would keep you on distance all the time. It stressed you out and you really wished for him to stop muddle your feelings, just because he was unsure of his own.

And the Keeper of the Runners was aware of his strange behaviour. In fact it stressed him out just as much as it did you. On the one hand he felt this weakness towards you, this weakness he just couldn't allow himself to have if he wanted to keep his mind rational. On the other hand he had never felt more alive when you were around him and since Hank had talked to him about the whole 'having-a-crush-on-Y/n'-thing, it was something which always haunted his mind. If he had been honest to himself, he had seen that he was scared of his own emotions, but right now he was running in the maze, running from himself.

You however scratched Peony's small head. It has been a while since the last time you've visited her and somehow you felt bad that Winston always was the one who told you how the lamb was doing instead of you knowing it yourself. Because of that you had decided that you would take more time to pursue the little things. Sometimes you actually enjoyed the peaceful silence you would always experience while sitting under the old oak tree, petting Peony's head. The only thing you were able to hear was the wind dancing around the oak leaves and now and then a cow mooing in the distance.

After some time two figures exited the blood house. One of them covered their mouth with his hand and the other one was slightly limping - You knew immediately who they were. Newt has just told you this morning that he would be helping with finding a job for the Greenie, Thomas. You grinned quietly to yourself as you thought of your own job search, now eight weeks, two whole months ago. You remembered how nervous and excited you were, maybe you've even been a little shy on your first days in the Glade, which caused you to ask yourself how Thomas was doing.

You stopped scratching Peony's head, which caused her to give you a confused, reproachful look. You nodded with your head to the side as a signal that she should get off your lap, which she did, but not before loudly exhaling to show her annoyance. "I'm sorry, Girly" you softly said while standing up and power walking towards Newt and Thomas. Peony did not deign to look at you and walked away while holding her head high, but you were sure that she would eventually forgive you - as Winston has said, she had grown quite a bossy behaviour.

You approached Newt and Thomas with a smile. The sun caused your skin and hair to glow and the mesmerized look of Newt and especially the Newbie as they saw you gave you a huge confidence boost. So your steps grew a little bit bigger and you felt your hair bouncing. You would have lied if you'd said that the look of the boys was not some kind of approval to you, as you didn't know what you looked like. After a few more steps and a few more seconds of confidence you came to a halt in front of the boys.

"Hey" you greeted them in a sweet voice and awaked them from their trance. "Hello, love" Newt greeted you back and made sure to address you with your nickname. "Love? Are you two a couple?" Thomas asked and looked between the two of you without even saying hello to you. You looked up to Newt and back to Thomas, you bit your lip and thought about an answer to give. "No, it's just my nickname for her" Newt stated and you nodded. Both of you must have looked pretty awkward, standing beside each other and clearly having some kind of tension while stating that you were not in a relationship. The confidence washed away like snow in the rain.

Thomas looked confused and frowned, but after a few seconds he seemed satisfied with the answer. "Uhm... What are you guys up to?" you asked to break the painful silence and change the topic. "We were just finished with testing the job as a Slicer" Newt explained and looked at you with a strange look, you quickly turned back to Thomas "And how did you like it?" you asked him with a smile. "I don't think it suits" he answered and you nodded understandingly. "What else is still on offer?" you asked, turning back to Newt.
