Millie had always been a morning person.
Of course after sharing a place with Finn for so long, she had eased up on the early mornings in favor of later ones in bed sunbathing with their pets. She couldn't help it, those were the mornings that she cherished the most; they were the most peaceful. This morning was different though, because it was a day with guests, and Millie couldn't have been up any earlier due to the anticipation that she had been feeling for the past few weeks.
It was a morning of cleaning and blaring her music, one of her favorite things. Millie had always felt like cleaning made her seem like she had at least a bit of her life together. Finn usually slept through all the noise and she was grateful for that. She liked things cleaned in a specific way and Finn was usually just in the way anyway.
"If I was a rich girl," Millie sang under her breath as she swept the kitchen, her head moving a bit to the beat of the song. She hummed as she moved the chairs around to get under the table. The song picked up a little and she started to move with it, the broom serving as her dancing partner.
"All the riches baby, won't mean anything," she spun in a circle and sang to the broom rather intensely, "all the riches baby, won't bring what your love can bring!"
The dogs got excited as she did, running at her feet and jumping as she spun around the tiny kitchen.
"All the riches baby, won't mean anything," she sang the words happily as she dropped the broom and held Oatie's paws so he could dance with her as well.
"Don't need no other baby, your lovin' is better than gold, and I know!"
Moody barked at all the excitement and Millie laughed as she let Oatie down on all fours again. She finished up sweeping quickly, the broom doubling as a microphone half the time. She put the broom away and quickly made her way to the dryer to pull out the clothes she had thrown in there earlier.
"No man could test me, impress me, my cash flow would never ever end." She sang the words quieter now, her hands moving mindlessly as she placed the clean clothes in the laundry basket.
"Cause I'd have all the money in the world, if I was a wealthy girl," she held the basket against her hip as she turned the music down on the small speaker that they kept in the living room before making her way down the hall and into the bedroom.
"Finn if you don't get up within the next ten minutes, we won't have time to shower," she spoke as she walked in with the basket of laundry. The dogs followed in behind her, Oatie jumping up onto the bed and immediately laying down.
"Hmm," Finn replied back from under the covers.
Millie sighed and set the basket down at the end of the bed. She crossed her arms and stared at him for a couple of seconds. The blankets rose and fell as he breathed, the room bringing a tranquility that Millie just couldn't stand any longer.
"Well," she threw her hands up and shrugged, "I'll just go then."
She walked towards the door and smirked before letting out a dramatic sigh, "I'll shower by myself."
Finn's eyes opened immediately at the words.
"Mill-"
"Too late!" She yelled as she turned and ran out of the room. She could hear the sheets shuffle quickly followed by a thud on the floor.
"Millie!" Finn yelled as he ran down the hallway half awake.
Millie slammed the door shut to the bathroom and locked it quickly with Finn's loud footsteps coming down the hall behind her. A small smack on the door had her covering her mouth to hold in a laugh and Finn groaned.
