Gut Feeling

Guilt.

Everything felt so wrong about this but Finn couldn't help it. He had never doubted Millie and he wasn't so sure why he even doubted her now. It wasn't like him. But it also wasn't like Millie to be so secretive. How could he just sit by while she told him things that he wasn't sure were true? He felt the overwhelming tug in his chest growing stronger every minute that he spent with her or thinking about her. Shouldn't he trust his gut feeling? Was his intuition just playing games on him or was he truly right about something going on?

Why couldn't he just ask her straight out? She had been acting weird, like a whole different person, and he didn't know any other way to go about it. He had such an odd feeling about Louis now and the fact that he and Millie were going out more often. It was regular for them to hang out but not as much as they had been recently. They had just been so...close.

Closer than Finn's insecurities let him deal with.

His neck was aching at this point. Sitting slouched down so far into the seat so that his eyes could just barely see over the dashboard of the car would do that to a person though. He sighed and rolled the window down just a little lower so that the air would flow in some more. The air outside was warm and the window was his only source of relief from the heat due to his fear of turning the car on and making too much noise.

He hated the fact that he was even in this situation to begin with.

"So you need my car for what?"

"I-I'm going to take Moody to a specialist and Millie is using my car while she's out," Finn stumbled over his words.

His mother sighed, "Millie didn't want to go to the specialist with you?"

Finn bit his lip. He was never a good liar.

"No?"

"Is that a question?" She asked.

"Okay fine! I haven't told Millie about Moody yet!" He blurted out with guilt.

Mary raised her eyebrows, "Oh?"

"Yes, so that's why I'm going by myself and that's why I need your car," the lie fell off of his tongue a bit easier now.

"Okay."

"Okay?" Finn rocked on his feet nervously, "You're not mad?"

She shrugged, "It isn't my place to be, but I am disappointed."

"I'm going to tell her...soon." His words seemed uncertain.

Mary grabbed her keys off of the small hook that they hung on and held them out towards her son.

"It'll be okay."

Finn grabbed the keys and nodded at her words. They pushed a bit more comfort onto him and she probably didn't even realize it

"I should get going, Millie gets off of work soon."

And that's what lead him here.

He watched the door to the small coffee shop, his patience growing thinner by the minute. He glanced at his phone and sighed, they were already running ten minutes later than usual and his stomach turned at the thought of them using the back exit without him even realizing it. If he missed them leaving then he'd miss his chance to follow. His foot tapped impatiently against the floor of the car and he bit his lip rather harshly in an attempt to distract himself from the situation at hand.

The shrill ring of his phone had him jumping at the sudden breach of silence. He scooped it up quickly, his mind helplessly hoping that it was Millie. In some other world, she'd change her mind about going out with Louis and tell Finn that she was on her way home instead. He would much rather prefer that over whatever this was.
