Anticipation

The day was suddenly starting to feel incredibly long.

Arguments weren't something that Finn nor Millie were accustomed to, especially not with each other. They had their share of disputes like any couple would, but it was never something that they left unfinished. That's exactly what Millie felt like the whole situation was though.

Unfinished.

She sat on the edge of the bed in their room and sighed as she watched Oatie stretch out on the carpet by her feet. She had felt the need to follow Finn out the door and demand that he talked to her, but she knew that wasn't right. He did seemed stressed just like his mother had said so she knew it was probably best to let him clear his head. Caleb and Gaten were sure to keep his mind off of things at least for a while, and then maybe she and him could talk through it once Finn returned home. She just wasn't so sure what to do in the time being.

Her eyes scanned the room and landed on her phone. She picked it up and opened her messages, ready to call Louis until Finn's previous words ran through her head.

"You weren't too tired to go to lunch with Louis though."

Obviously Louis was pushing Finn over the edge with whatever type of jealousy he was growing towards the man. Millie knew she needed to take a step back and lay off of her friend for a while. She never wanted to put Finn in that situation. She didn't want him uncomfortable and she didn't want insecurities to grow because of someone that she'd never involve herself with romantically.

She placed her phone back on the bed and sighed again. Caleb's wasn't too far, and yet Millie was counting down the minutes to when she was sure that Finn would arrive. She wondered if her usual text would even be received signaling that Finn had made it safely to his destination. Was he angry enough to not even bother with it?

She thought about their final words to each other before he left, the small "love you" had meant a lot to her after their argument. She knew that it was just a small reassurance from Finn that they would work it through. They had to work it through, right? Millie got up, ready to busy herself with something until Finn returned.

"Dinner?" She looked at both of the dogs whose ears perked up immediately. She smiled and started towards the door where Oatie zoomed out of the room and Moody hobbled out behind him at a slower pace.

Her hands moved quick to pour food into both of the dog's bowls. Oatie ate quickly, the sound of the dry kibble crunching in his mouth being an oddly soothing sound for Millie. Her eyes traveled over to Moody who sniffed at her bowl and then watched Oatie as he chowed down.

"What's wrong Moods?" Millie bent down and pet the dog before picking up a piece of food and holding it up to the old dog's nose. "Not hungry?"

The old dog took it in her mouth and seemingly tried to chew it before letting it fall out and looking down at it. Millie's eyebrows furrowed. She held the dog's head gently in one hand before sticking her finger straight into her mouth to feel around. She made a face at the warm feeling and ran her finger over the top and the bottom of the dog's chops as the poor animal tried to pull away.

"Five."

She removed her finger and got up before walking to the sink to wash her hands. Her aging dog had always been something that Millie was aware of but as of recently she had found it harder to ignore.

"Only five more teeth," she gave a sad face to Moody before grabbing her bowl and filling it with some warm water. "Ten minutes for it to get mushy for you, okay?"

She placed the dog bowl on the kitchen counter before walking to the bedroom and picking up her phone, ready to message Finn like she always did for any small inconvenience. Her face softened as she opened up the notification of a message that was already there from him.
