The aroma filling Millie's nose was almost enough to wake her up.
She turned over and breathed in deeply, a comfort coming over her body at the cozy setting she was in. Finn walked down the hallway and peeked into the room for what was probably the tenth time this morning. He was being as quiet as possible this morning so that Millie could sleep. She looked terrible yesterday and he hated to admit it. Beautiful as always, but still so exhausted.
"When mom wakes up you can't jump all over her, okay? You have to be like Moody and just stand there wagging your tail."
Oatie's ears perked up at the name "mom" and "Moody". Finn talked to him as if he understood but made a mental note to lock him in the bathroom before Millie arose. Moody had slept in there all morning with her but he brushed it off as her being tired from their vet visit and the tests they had to do yesterday.
His plan was to tell Millie about the whole thing once he picked her up from work yesterday and yet it just didn't feel like the right timing. How could he break the news to her when she was so tired? It didn't seem right.
His next plan was for today after she got off of work, but now she wasn't even going to work and she didn't even know it. He sent some quick messages last night to Louis who agreed to cover Millie's shift for her in return for some lunch on Finn. After that it was as simple as turning off the alarms he had previously set for her and then climbing into bed himself. Telling her about the vet could wait.
The morning had been rather slow for the most part and Finn found himself finishing up work he needed done before cleaning up the entire apartment so that Millie could wake up without any sort of stress. The place was filled with the scent of vanilla and maple syrup, a half-eaten plate of pancakes set on the table that Finn would poke at every couple of minutes.
He glanced over to the time in the corner of his laptop and then back towards the hallway. His fingers tapped the table out of the lack of patience he held. He kind of wanted Millie to wake up already so that he wasn't so bored but he held himself back from walking into the room and doing so. She needed rest and he knew it. He let out a sigh and lifted his cup to his lips, the warmth of the coffee comforting him. He shook his head as if to clear his thoughts before focusing back to his laptop.

Millie's eyes snapped open.
She scanned the room quickly before closing her eyes tight and stretching a bit. God it was so hot in here.
She pushed the blankets off of her body and sat up in the process. Moody lifted her head next to her and Millie gave a small smile before scratching behind the dogs ear. Her eyes traveled over to her phone that was on the nightstand and she snatched it up quickly. Her eyes widened as she realized the time and her mind finally caught up with where she was and what she was supposed to be doing.
"Shit shit shit," she mumbled out the word over and over as she practically fell out of bed and over to the basket of laundry that was folded at the end of it. She yanked out her work pants and started to shove them on with a few hops. Her shirt was on next and then her apron was being tied as she started to make her way towards the door.
She merely made it two steps out of the room before she looked up and immediately ran into Finn.
"I'm so late I'm sorry-" she moved around him quickly and he watched in amusement as she stumbled down the hallway trying to tie on her apron.
"I need you to drive me," she said as she snatched her shoes off the floor by the door and started to slip them onto her bare feet.
Finn was just able to catch her by her shoulders as she passed him once again. Her eyes were wide and he smiled down at her, "You're not going to work today."
