Man I could kill Josie right now, I've been after a kiss from Nik for over two damn months. And he was close, we were inches apart and I could tell he was into it.....and then she ruined it. Every part of me nearly collapsed when I heard her calling out my name in the hallway. It broke the quiet, loving atmosphere.
It was so intense, just having him that close and open.....I finally had what I wanted and she had to ruin it for me.
I walk back downstairs into the living area again, how could I pull him away again? I didn't want to be back here, I wanted to be upstairs again with him.
"Oh there you are!" Josie says, walking over to me from the kitchen. "Where did you go?" It takes every fibre in my body not to look at her and ask her why it should matter.
"To pee." I tell her and she furrows her eyebrows.
"No you didn't, I went to every washroom." She says and I roll my eyes.
"Yeah, I got lost for a while." I tell her, trying not be angry with her right now. "What did you need?"
"Oh, well......it was almost midnight and I couldn't find you. I wouldn't want you to miss celebrating with everyone." She says and I narrow my eyes. That wasn't the truth, she just didn't want me going off my myself.
"Josie, you know I love you but I've been here for a few months, I don't need you to look out for me. I'm okay on my own, I swear." I tell her and she sighs, scratching the back of her neck.
"Okay I'm sorry, I just didn't want you to get into trouble." She says and I nod tensely.
"It's okay." I sigh, trying to move on. If she kept following me around and tracking my every movement, it was going to be hard to keep being her friend. I loved her, but she got under my skin with how much she monitored every little thing that I did.
I try and keep having fun, but in the back of my head I kept thinking about Nik. I kept feeling my stomach knot up when I thought about how close he was. Eventually we were about fifteen minutes from midnight and I stepped back from the crowd to text my parents each a 'Happy New year' text.
Just when I send the last one, people start to gather around the TV in the living room, watching the countdown starting to cue up. I look around the room for Nik, but I can't see him anywhere. I feel someone tap my shoulder and I turn quickly, startled by the sudden touch.
"Nik-"
"Hey, come on." He says quickly, leading me away from the crowd, completely preoccupied by the final New Years Eve performance on the TV.
He brings me inside the first room he can with a closing door, it just so happens to be the powder room but right now I couldn't say I cared. He shuts the door and I furrow my eyebrows.
"What are we doing-ah!" He picks me up and I shriek. Nik's never been this touchy before, he rarely put his hands on me like this or got assertive. I laugh as he sits me on the counter in the washroom and he gives me this boyish grin. "Could you please be a little more gentle with me, Mister Petrov?" I tease and he laughs.
"Sorry." He whispers and I smile.
"Why'd you bring me in here?" I ask and he laughs a bit with an easy smile.
"I was hoping we could finish what we started upstairs." He whispers and I furrow my eyebrows.
"And what did we start upstairs?" I tease, he grabs my hips pulling me closer and he stands between my legs. I gasp a bit at the sudden movement, my god he was smooth.
