"Happy Monday." Grace whispers, leaning over the car console to kiss my cheek.

"There's no such thing." I insist and she chuckles a bit. "I'm sorry your dad left last night." I whisper and she sighs.

"Me too." She shrugs, looking disappointed. "It's tough to say goodbye again, he has a hard time leaving though so I try to hide how sad it makes me." She mumbles and I reach over and take her hand.

"He'll be back." I whisper, trying to comfort her and she smiles.

"I know." She tells me. "You're so smart." I laugh a bit at that and give her hand a squeeze. "What are you up to tonight?" She asks quietly and I shrug.

"I have family therapy, then practice but then I'm free. I caught up on most of my homework last night." I mumble, hoping she was suggesting what I wanted her to.

"Do you want to come over?" She asks and and I smile. My god we'd been missing so much time together, our 'honeymoon phase' that everyone refers to never really got to happen. When my life wasn't up in flames, hers was, then it was like we couldn't be alone. It was tough to have a girl I found completely irresistible all the time with no way to express it.

"Yeah." I say quietly. "I have some lost time to make up for." I admit and she smiles, cheeks turning red. I liked when I could make her feel that way.

Ever since Thursday, we'd been waiting for the chance to get together again. We hadn't had a proper date since that day, all weekend I'd been training with my team and we were getting closer to the start of track so she was trying to keep up her stamina and start running more.

The reason the past few times we'd been together had been so rushed was because we weren't getting to do it regularly anymore. We'd wait and wait for things to settle or die down, sometimes we wouldn't only because the wait got to be too much. I hoped tonight would be the start of getting back to us, to having our relationship go back to nights in bed.

"Perfect." She whispers and I grin. All I wanted was her today, we had no conflicts tonight, no family issues and her house would be empty. She leans over to kiss me and I feel my smile widen. That's when someone smacks the trunk of my car. A couple of someones actually. They were all on my team, juniors who needed to be reminded who was in charge. They all started yelling, making suggestive hand gestures, moaning loudly.

Well that killed the moment.

She rolls her eyes and slumps back in her seat, as annoying as it was, it was making me laugh. She was fighting off a smile too, I could tell.

"You know, there are times I hate dating the captain of the hockey team." She mumbles, crossing her arms and pretending to be upset.

"Ouch." I whine, putting my hands over my heart and she laughs. "I'd always love you." I point out and she pretends to gag.

"Gross." She teases and I laugh too. "I'm just kidding baby, you know I love you too." She whispers, making me smile and I nod, leaning back over to kiss her again. Then the noise picks back up all over again and I sigh, leaning over to open my door instead. This will have to wait until tonight

I get out before her feeling vengeful. I knew that as funny as it was she also felt uncomfortable and that wasn't alright.

"Hey! McNight, Cambridge, Jones!" I say curtly, crossing my arms and they all go straight as a board, waiting to see what would happen. "Just because I've got a girlfriend doesn't mean I can't still kick all of your asses!" The colour drains from their faces and I try not to laugh, I kind of miss being mean, just because of how funny this was. "Why don't you apologize to my girlfriend here or I'll add some extra suicides to tonight's practice?" I suggest, gesturing to Grace who's turning red again, pressing her lips together.
