Grace
I was the happiest girl on the planet. Everything had finally fallen into place between Nik and I, there wasn't this wall up or confusion for the two of us anymore. We'd fixed virtually all of our problems on New Years Eve, and ever since then I'd been on cloud nine.
We hung out some more throughout the rest of the break. We didn't sleep together again, but everything was much more personal now. He'd actually kiss me when he saw me, he wasn't afraid to hug me or put his arms around me. He wouldn't wear a full outfit just to go to bed with me. It felt more normal now between the two of us.
He woke up with me the next morning and insisted we shower together. I happily agreed and he carried me to the washroom. I usually felt pretty skinny, I knew my chest wasn't very big and that I didn't have fantastic curves. But he made me feel pretty, he held me close through the whole thing.
Nik on his own was something to behold, he was covered in muscle. I'm five-ten and I usually got uncomfortable about my height, but he was well over six feet tall and built. I felt totally safe with him.
We felt right together, things were making more sense and in the time since our big chat, we'd started to understand where our communication problems were coming from. I was happy with him now, I felt like we'd made an incredible amount of progress.
Of course there was the question of where did we go from here? Should we go on a date, or keep trying to grow?
"It's up to you." He whispered last night. "You don't have to make that choice right now."
"I know." I shrugged. "I just....I think it's been going well and I don't want to make it too serious too fast." I answered and he smiled.
"Why don't we try and go out on one date? We'll see how it goes and if it goes well.....we can see about going further." He told me, running his hand over my back. "Does that sound like it might work?"
"That sounds perfect." I whispered. "What about at school?"
"That's up to you." He smiled. "I have no issue with it, but if you'd rather-"
"No, I think we've done enough hiding." I said, running my hand up his arm. "Tomorrow, I actually want to sit and eat lunch together."
"Really?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, I have a feeling I won't be popular with a few of the girls so I'll need someone to sit with." I told him and he laughed. "I'm excited." I whispered, talking about the future to come.
"Me too." He told me and we settled back in to keep watching our movie.
He went home last night and I hadn't seen him today yet, we came in separate cars because he had practice tonight. It was lunch time and I was holding my breath, hoping nothing would go worse than it already did on New Years Eve.
"Hey!" I hear and I see Chelsea, coming down the other hallway. "I haven't seen you since New Years, what happened?!" She asks and I sigh, feeling relieved I wouldn't have to go into the cafeteria alone.
"A lot." I breathe and she smiles. "We're going to go out soon."
"What?" She asks, nudging my arm. "Holy crap, that's insane!"
"I know." I mumble. "We had a.....really amazing conversation on New Years Eve, I think it cleared up so much and we got a lot closer."
"Wow, I knew if he would change for anyone it would be you." She says with a smile and I laugh. "Anything else happen?"
"He finally kissed me." I say, rolling my eyes. "Two months of talking and he never had....well until New Years Eve."
"Two months?" She hisses. "That boy's got it bad for you." I smile, hoping that was really the truth as we push through the doors. "Yikes let's sit at the other end of the table." She says, raising her eyebrows and looking at the death glare Cassie's giving me. I nod and follow her to the other end and put down my bag on the chair next to me.
