This is what joy feels like, this is the best vacation I've ever had. We just got back from our second night at the resort club, I was a little tipsy. Nik was completely drunk, laying on the couch in the living room.

Once we got back I closed and locked the front door and walked out to the patio. It was nice to feel the breeze blowing back in my face.

All day I'd been laying in the sun, reading and watching the water. It had been incredibly pleasant weather ever since we'd been here. Everyday we did something fun and new, the food every night was incredible and I was having a lot of fun.

The best thing was waking up every morning next to him. Drinking a cup of coffee on the deck outside and watching the teal water. We'd pack up day bags and spend most of the early afternoon at the more public side of the beach. Then eventually we'd hurry back and spend the afternoon in the privacy of our own little getaway.

He kept trying to surprise me, bring me really cute things like a shell from the ocean or an interesting rock. He'd have lunch or dessert brought to our room sometimes too. I felt so special this week, this vacation had been perfect so far and Nik was treating me really well.

My phone starts to vibrate in my hands and I see Josie's name pop up on the screen. I smile and drag the bar over, sitting on the end of one of the loungers.

"Hello?" I say with a smile.

"Hi, how's your week in paradise?" She teases and I laugh.

"It's incredible......my god, he really planned this out so well." I mumble, still unable to believe it.

"It must be so nice there, send me a picture." She sighs and I laugh. "Actually don't, I don't want to know what I'm missing." She groans.

"Well, you guys are taking a trip right?" I ask, remembering our friends talking about some three-day trip and she laughs.

"Yeah, upstate to some bed and breakfast, no cell service and certainly no tanning for me." She explains and I smile. "I hope it'll be fun."

"I'm sure it will, I'd say I wish I could be there but-"

"Yeah, yeah. Island of love, I get it." She tells me and I smile. "You sound tired."

"It's been an eventful few days, we just got back from dancing at the club. I'm beat, the sun takes a lot out of you." I sigh, feeling a weak smile push its way up onto my face.

"Among other things I'm sure." She teases and I roll my eyes.

"Yeah, there's been enough of that going on." I mumble, feeling my cheeks heat up. There was the comfort I had from the new birth control, it had been over a week of taking it which eased my mind a bit.

"Boo, I wish some guy who was crazy about me would fly me to Cuba." She groans and I laugh.

"One day some guy will." I assure her. "I can feel it."

"I hope you're right." She says quietly and fades off momentarily. "Oh wait, I called for a reason, I'm supposed to go prom dress shopping tomorrow with my mom, I'm going to send you some pictures and you tell me which style you think is best." She says and my mind suddenly stops.

Prom.

What the fuck had I been doing? I hadn't even thought about this, not in the slightest. Now my mind was spinning with all of the stuff I had to work out.

"W-when is prom?" I ask and she laughs a bit, not answering my question.

"You don't know?" She asks seriously and I press my lips together.
