Grace
This had been such a fantastic week so far. Everything had been absolutely perfect with Nik, my dad and I had been able to spend loads of time together and most importantly, the two of them got along the other night at dinner.
I hadn't seen my friends much or Nik really since he'd been in town, but I think everyone understood why I was busy. My dad rarely got to spend time at home so it was a massive blessing to have him around.
Nik and I had been missing our sleepovers among the.....other things that would happen when we were in bed alone together. It had been difficult, but I was thankful we got the chance on Saturday morning, then the shower and the dinner and the cuddling.....my god it was perfect.
Today was Thursday and Nik informed me he had the afternoon off today. It was a big surprise but I was incredibly thankful for it. I was looking forward to spending some time together.
"Hey." I hear someone whisper and he leans over my shoulder to kiss my cheek. "Ready to go?"
"Yeah, get me out of this place." I groan, wanting to leave school badly. "What's the plan for the afternoon?"
"We'll hang out at my house, make a snack and watch something." He says, lacing his fingers through mine. It made me really happy that he wasn't afraid to bring me to his house anymore, I wanted him to know that I wasn't uncomfortable with it.
Dad said something about bringing mom out tonight which I thought was long overdue. When your husband lives on the other side of the world, date nights are few and far between. So I could really seize the opportunity to hang out with Nik.
"Cool." I whisper and he smiles. We walk through the lobby, seeing Lucas and Preston chatting with Chelsea and Josie.
"Hey guys." Preston says.
"Perfect timing." Chelsea insists, clapping her hands together. "My birthday is two weekends from the coming one so I'd love it if you guys could come to my party." She says, passing us both a fancy envelope and I laugh. The girl who has everything is turning eighteen, this should be interesting. "It's a black-tie event, it's at the rooftop botanical garden downtown. Drinks and hors d'oeuvres to go around and music."
"Isn't it a little cold for a rooftop garden party?" I ask and she giggles.
"Nope, space heaters galore." She insists. "And please R.S.V.P as soon as possible so I can book the hotel rooms and limos." She says as if that was the most normal statement that could be said. This seemed a little excessive, but it wasn't my party and it sounded cool.
"You're free, yeah?" I ask and Nik nods. "Then we're both in, count us R.S.V.P-ed." I tease.
"Yeah you know how much I like free stuff, Chels." Nik teases and she smiles.
"All the info is on the cards." She says and I smile with a nod.
We say goodbye to everyone and I flip over the card, detailing the extravagant night. What on earth would it be like to have this much money? Nik doesn't even seem phased which leaves me looking up to him curiously.
"What?" He asks and I laugh.
"Aren't you a little blown away?" I stutter and he shakes his head.
"Nah, Chelsea's been having birthdays like this since she was twelve." He says with a shrug. "It's the perk of being her friend, her parties where the sky's the limit."
"Jesus." I mumble. "I don't even think I've celebrated my birthday in the last two years." I tell him and he smiles.
"When is your birthday?" He asks furrowing his eyebrows and I laugh.
