Nik

Nate is with her, arms wrapped around her and I feel anger flood through my body. What was wrong with this kid, Sasha can't have her heart messed with right now and she's too vulnerable. Nate wasn't her friend anymore, what was he even doing here? I feel myself snap when I watch him kiss the top of her head.

"Hey!" I yell, too angry to think and they spring back from each other and Nate's eyes widen incredibly. I knew that he didn't give a single shit about my sister, and I wouldn't let him ruin her and hurt her again. "Get your hands off my little sister!" I say, taking him by his shirt collar and dragging him away from Sasha. "Carter, you have some nerve being down here right now. Trying to pray on Sasha." I say angrily, getting in his face. He shakes his head, pleading with me.

"What?" He asks and I shove him up against the wall of the rink. I wasn't going to let him weasel his way back in and hurt her a second time. She still hadn't recovered from the loss of their friendship, he doesn't just get to come back now. Why was he even confused?

"That is my sister." I say quietly, grabbing his shirt with both of my hands. "The same sister I'm always defending, the same sister I'm always trying to comfort because you feel the need to pick on her. The same sister I watched cry for hours after you refused to talk to her at school after you quit the club!" I yell, feeling intensely angry. Sasha had enough going on in her life without Nate ruining it.

"You don't get to come back and mess with her head. Not when you're the biggest asshole I've ever met!" I add. I think about Sasha crying last week because the kids at school were throwing ice at her, I think back to four years ago when she came home in tears because he refused to speak to her at school.

"Nik!" Sasha begs, grabbing my bicep. "Stop it!" She cries and I nearly roll my eyes. She doesn't have a clue that this is setting her up to get hurt again. "Please, please." She whispers, Alex comes down the hallway withe dad and Sasha's coaches and dad's face fills with rage.

"Sasha, what's going on?" He barks and I don't let him go. He looked terrified but he deserved it for the years of torment he'd put my sister through. "I asked you a question." He says more loudly. "What is he doing here?" He snaps, gesturing angrily towards Nate.

"Nothing." Sasha answers and I roll my eyes, the way they were told me everything I needed to know. "No, nothing. I ran into Nate in the hallway and he wanted to congratulate me on my-"

"You got third." He says in a curt tone and even I wince at his anger towards Sasha. "There's nothing to congratulate here. I suggest you go home Nate."

I let go of his shirt and let him come off the wall, hoping if he was smart he'd run along now. But instead he stands looking back at Sasha and I feel anger cut through me.

"Leave." I huff and he sighs, looking defeated.

"Don't waste your time Nate. You won't be dating my daughter." Dad says and I feel nauseous, the thought of that was gross. "She's not worth your time and quite frankly I'm not sure she's worth mine today. Go date a pretty girl instead, perhaps one with more braincells than Sasha, hmm?" That was just mean, Sasha was a good person and she didn't deserve dad's abuse. The hurt look in her eyes told me it had cut deep, but if dad could get Nate to leave then I'd be happy.

Nate instead takes a deep breath and looks back to my father angrily "I think your daughter's beautiful. She's wonderful and tearing her down doesn't change anything." He takes a deep breath looking like he could pee his pants and looks at Sasha who's starting to cry. He seems conflicted, but the look she's sending him seems to entice him to leave. He waves briefly before walking back down the hall and Sasha's cheeks flush.
