Jensen's POV

"This seriously sucks, we have this nice romantic dinner and I think something is actually going to be like asked of me you know finally and... nothing, I just don't get it Gen what is up with him seriously!" I overheard my girlfriend talking on the phone to whom I could only assume is Jared's wife, she had no idea I could hear her. I sat on the couch in my house in Vancouver wishing that it was Kayle talking to Gen not Dee. I felt the smile start to form at the simple thought of her, as usual.

"Yea but like am I not good enough or something? Like I seriously thought everything was perfect we've been together like 2 years and just nothing? Yea I don't know okay, I'll talk to you later Jensen just got home." She walked over to me and put her hand on my shoulder, kissing my cheek before walking in front of me and sitting on the coffee table. "How long have you been home?"

"About 10 minutes" I stared down at my hands.

"So you hear all of that?"

"Yup" I popped the p.

"Well then I guess that makes this easier...am I not wifey material for you or something like are we even going anywhere as a couple? I mean... Why don't you want to marry me and have kids and everything... Gen and Jared's kids need friends. We are getting old."

"I...I can't marry you." I kept my gaze towards the floor and my face blank.

"Excuse me?"

"I cant marry you, I made that promise to someone else a long time ago. I know I'm an asshole and I've done some fucked up things, but I made that vow already and I need to make good on it. It's been too long, I have to do something about it. I need to get my life back." A soft smile formed on my lips.

"What are you saying exactly Jensen?"

"That I need to go to this wedding back home alone and I don't think that I can be with you anymore Dee."

"Why?"

"I need to make things right with someone I should have done a long time ago... For good."

"You're breaking up with me for someone else?" I stayed silent but she knew, my face said it all.

It took her a minute to get it but when she did I got a nice slap across the face, along with a lot a screaming, her stomping up the stairs, then slamming the front door shut.

I'm surprised we had lasted this long. I never asked her to move in or anything. I knew she was just here to waste my time. To try to be a distraction to what my heart really wanted. What I really needed. It just wasn't working for me anymore. I knew what I had to do, so I made a few calls and made sure I was booked for the first flight out next week two days before the wedding.

I knew that the second I saw her everything would be perfect. It's been 3 years since we've seen one another and probably about the same since we've even talked on the phone or anything. That was going to change I needed Kayle in my life.

I was so depressed about everything, always drunk, rarely sleeping, even my best friends were both really worried about me. Keryn was constantly asking me to come visit but I just couldn't face the fact that she wouldn't be there. This wedding there was no way that she wouldn't be, she was Kristie's maid of honor, she had to be there. I got up and pulled out my phone already having 3 missed calls 1 from Gen and 2 from Jared. I dialed Jared back.

"Yo you okay? Dee called Gen flipping out saying y'all broke things off?"

"Yea I did, and I'm good. First time in awhile that I'm actually good. I'm going back home...I'm gonna win back my girl." I smiled even though he couldn't see me.

"Wait what?"

"Kayle, I'm getting my girl back Jared. I need her, she's my sunshine in the rain, my Gen if you will."

"You are extra sappy today. You drunk?" I could hear the laughter in his words and it made me smile more.

"Completely sober."

"Well man come over we can uh celebrate."

"Alright I'll be over in a little, going to shower quick."

"Sounds good see you soon."

We both hung up. I walked up the stairs and could feel the pep in my step as I jumped in the shower with my music up loud singing at the top of my lungs.
