ALYSSA
I hear a knock on my door and look up. "Come in," I say. The door opens and Davina is shown behind it. "Hey," she smiles at me, before sitting next to me on my bed. "Hey," I smile, before continuing to polish my toes. "Nice color," she says, referring to the color of my toenails I've already painted. "Thanks, you can borrow it if you want," I say to her, finishing my work of art. I put the nail polish back on my nightstand and then I turn towards her. She's concentrated on her phone, a small smile playing onto her lips. "Who are you texting?" I ask her. "And don't tell me it's Olivia, because I'm not buying that."
She leaves out a small chuckle, before laying her phone right next to her. "No, it's no one important," she replies, but you can see that she doesn't believe her own words. "You're a really bad liar, Davi," I say to her, a smirk on my face.
"So, what are you doing tomorrow?" she asks, trying to change the subject. I want to refer to her dodging what we were talking about, but I just let it be. If she has something to tell me, she will. Soon or later.
"What do you mean 'what are you doing tomorrow' ? We are going to the Parachute concert, remember?" I say, raising an eyebrow up at her. "Oh," she says, making an 'o' with her mouth. "You forgot?" I gasp. She purses her lips together, indicating that she in fact did forget about it. "Davina, we've been looking forward to this concert since last year. It was my birthday present to you," I say, my tone disappointed. I really thought she was looking forward to it as much as I was. A concert without my best friend is simply stupid. I can still go with Roy, but he hates Parachute so much he would commit suicide to not go there. Yes, that is very dramatic said, but it's the truth.
"I'm sorry, Alyssa. I really am. I just need to do something important tomorrow," she tells me and I sigh. I cross my arms and look away from her. "Come on, A. Don't be mad, please. I promise I'll make it up to you," she says and I sigh. "Fine," I mumble, looking back at her and she gives me a smile. She wants to give me a hug, but I stop her. "But," I start and she slightly groans, which makes me laugh a little. "In order for me to completely forgive you, you need to tell me who the mysterious person is you're always talking to."
"No," she says, crossing her arms. "Well, then you're the worst friend in the world. There's the door," I say, pointing towards the door. She sighs, which is a sign she's going to give in. "It's just a guy I've been... Seeing," she tells me. "And why do I know this only now?" I ask her, slightly huffing. "I just... I don't know, but I have to go." She gets up from my bed and is out of my room so fast, that I couldn't even say something. I sigh and get up from my bed and go towards my desk. I take my MacBook and turn it on. I open safari and go on the first ticket selling site I know.
I guess I will have to go to that concert on my own.
After I've put Davina's concert ticket online, I close my laptop and leave my bedroom to go downstairs. I enter the living room and see my parents sitting there. I turn around, not wanting to spend one second in their company. But then, I hear my father call me. I turn around and reply with: "Yes?"
"Come sit with us, you're favorite movie is playing," my father says. I turn my eyes to the screen and see that 'The Parent Trap' is playing. "No, thanks," I mumble. "Sweetie," my mom sighs. "Are you still mad at us?"
"What do you think the answer to that is?" I snarl, crossing my arms. They just stare at me, but don't respond. "Indeed," I mumble, before turning around and walking towards the hall. I take place on the lowest step of the staircase and put my elbows onto my knees and lay my head in the palm of my hands.
I hate my parents for doing this to me. Right now, they don't see me as their daughter, they see me as their human income. I sigh and then hear the small barks of Baylor. He is sitting by my feet, seeking for my attention. I slightly chuckle, before caressing his head. "You know what, I'm gonna let you out," I say, getting up from the step. I walk towards the front of the hall and put my shoes and jacket on. I take Baylor's leash and attach it to his collar belt. I take my keys, before walking out of the door with Baylor.
